MGM Compro 16016 - 02.28.2006, 01:52 AM

Hello, all !

I just received my new MGM Compro 16016, and I have a question for y'all, but for Mike specifically. I have version 2.31, and the case has no polarity markings for the voltage supply. The manual has a picture of five yellow wires, and no polarity markings. I found this link http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/atta...0&d=1123892667
on this forum, and inspected it, and I saw the picture of your E-Maxx, and it looks like, viewed with the capacitors at the bottom, that positive is on the left. I just wanted to make sure before I smoked that sucka. What gives me pause is that there is a short bus wire that attaches to what looks like a grounding plate on a circuit board, and that bus wire is connected to (what the diagram shows as) the positive terminal.

Also, I just replaced a Hacker Master controller that kept hitting thermals on my E-Maxx, but I'm sure that it would work, without issues, with my HPI RS4 Sport 2. What Feigao motor would you recommend with that car?

Thanks.

im pretty sure that the positive (like the picture) is on the left. also, how many cells would you be running? if 6 i would go for the feigao 380c 7t.

OK. Everything is wired up and mounted.

Polarity is correct: Grisa replied with the info.

Here's my setup:

E-Maxx
Airtronics MX3
Feigao 540-8L
Battery pack (red wire removed on BEC)
2x6 Pro-Match IB3800 matched packs

When I power it up (with the throttle on high), after 5 seconds I get continuous beeping. I assume that moving the switch to the yellow side of the switch turns it on (although, my common sense tells me that the switch is making contact in the other direction - I read on another forum that MGM controllers break a kill circuit to turn the controller on - ?). No matter how I try it, I still get the beeps. The rest of the system works fine, and I have tried it with and without the BEC, getting identical results. I have also tried powering it up in reverse, same thing.

What's the secret here?

Thanks!

have you programmed it? also, im pretty sure that the switch is just for the internal bec so as not to run your batteries down.

The switch is reversed from standard switches - if you cut it off and connect the wires from it together, the controller is off.

Continuous beeping usually means no radio signal. Are you sure it is plugged into the RX correctly? It could also mean incorrect cell count, which would be accounted for in the programming.

I cannot even get to the point of programming it. I get the beeping only.

There is a radio signal. The servos work just fine.

I wonder if my radio's 70/30 design has anything to do with it. Most of the newer ones are 70/30, and some of the old ESCs required it to be 50/50, which the MX3 does not have.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try to get it into programming mode with my airplane transmitter. I may be able to select car mode then. Who knows.

My cell count is 12. The ESC can handle 6-16. It runs just fine using my Hacker Master Comp ESC, so I know the motor is fine.

In fact, I used the truck Sunday. I only upgraded to the MGM because, although the Hacker specs state 12 cells, I know it only runs safely up to 8 cells. I got sick of the thermals.

I sent an email to MGM. I'm sure there is something simple about it. I have experience with numerous brushless setups, from the old Lehner Warrior 9910 to all of my Castles and Hackers for my planes, and at least two Master Comps, and this is the first time that I've had problems.

The MX-3 works on the MGM controllers. Physically, it has a 70/30 design (and that's adjustable via a screw), but electronically it is 50/50. This is an interesting problem, and I'm interested in hearing what MGM has to say about it.

Metalman is correct on the continuous beeping. It is an error code. You shouldn't have any trouble with the mx3, either. Try the "reset" procedure and then move on to programming. This will set the controller to its initial settings(should already be there, but I have experienced this same beeping error code and did the reset procedure to clear it out). Let me know how it works.

OK.

If you're talking about 'EASY return to default settings', then that doesn't work, either. Unless there's some magic little button hidden somewhere, or some strange procedure that can be done without powering up, I'm out of luck. As I stated before, no matter what I do, BEC / no BEC, throttle up / back, throttle normal / reversed, I get beeping after five seconds. Straight error code.

I have since tried it with my Airtronics RD8000, and three other receivers with my MX-3, and I still have no luck.

Looks like I'm about to do some shipping (and waiting).

crud.

Is your throttle channel reversed? This can sometimes cause programming issues.

The first error code.

It won't do anything else, regardless of any change of setup/configuration.
I'm about to hang it all up and by a Lehner.

You do have the esc plugged right in to the receiver. Make sure it is all the way in as well.

Peace!
