Arrow End bell removal on a sealed brushless can? - 05.07.2007, 04:04 PM

The motor mount holes on the endbell are positioned so that the leads on the other end hit a steering mount. I had to bend the leads back against the endbell to be able to squeeze the motor onto its mount. Kinda worried me doing this since the solder towards the end of the leads make the wire stiff. It felt like I was going to break something. The can is crimped onto the end bell. Is there anyway to remove the endbell so that I can reposition the motor mounting holes?

Which motor is this? If it is a Feigao. If I understand your problem correctly. You can remove the end bell but ultimately you may have to drill an tap new mount holes if you need the the wires in an exact spot. Better yet, with the Feigao you can also pop out both end bells position the shaft side end bell where you want it then epoxy it back together. I would use the RC-Monster motor heatsink/clamp regardless on a Feigao.

You probably have additional mounting holes in the motor already are you sure you can't use the other mount holes? If you have any pics of the problem that might help.

The motor is a Wraith7k.

See how the motor leads are mashed up against the steering post.

The other mounting holes are spaced too close together. I diddnt even think about taping new holes on the end bell. Maybe I could just drill new holes in the motor mount insted. That way I wouldnt have to tap-em.

The Wraith is a great little motor but I hate how stiff those wires are. When I reposition them I just grab them with some needle nose pliers at the base so it doesn't put too much load on the joint.

I had to bend the leads so that they are as close to the can as possible.

Whats your Wraith in?

You can't really see it but it's in there.

Here is an old picture with my original single servo setup.
