Shock oil

I have a issue i think you guys can help me with. Here is the problem. When i drop my truck from about 1 and a half feet on a hard surface it absorbs the shock. when i drop it from about 3 feet the truck bounces. when i drop my truck from about 1 and a half foot on carpet it bounces. I will be getting the gmaxx suspension, but right now i am using big bores, stock oil that it came with(don't know what weight it is), stock springs, and a ride height of dog bones level. I thought i would need heaver oil for my truck not to be so bouncy. I want this truck to have a shock setup worthy enough to jump at a off road track but yet not to stiff to bounce with and street race. It this possible and what oil, springs, ride height, and shock angle do you recommend for this to work. (i am aware that i will have to change the shock possessions to allow for on-road racing, so when you are giving your opinions just base them on off road racing, but let me know what setup would also work for on-road.) thanks guys

Is this RTR? Batteries, motor, the works? If not, I wouldn't mess with the shocks until then...

Does it jump back because of hitting the bottom too hard?

Assuming that the shocks are OK, they shouldn't rebound quickly enough to cause the truck to "bounce." It is likely that the chassis slapping the ground is what is causing it to come up off of the floor. If you don't want the chassis slapping, go with some heavier shock oil; but if you do that it's going to affect the handling on rough terrain. Suspension setups usually involve some sort of trade off.

Aside from just dropping the truck on the ground, you really need to see how it behaves while you are running it.

yes this is without electronics so it is inacurate. But this is a better question for you, What shock oil do you recommend i run on my truck for jumping, and what shock weight oil do the shocks come with. Remember my truck is a little heavy. Also what ride height do you recommend for racing of road just above dogbones level, bleow, right at, or do you have a good measurement for me as far as clearance. thanks.
