Truggy almost there!

Here are a couple shots on my new truggy I've almost finished. Setup is as follows:

NUE 1515 2.5d
MONSTER 125b ESC
4s 5000 MAH Lipo Batts



Should be good on the track I think more than enough to spank some nitro tail.



Side by side with my original truggy killer BL revo!



I still need to manufacture a battery tray and find a nice way to mount the ESC. There are still a few bugs to work out but for the most part she is running good. I have only tested in the house with everything laying in the chassis

As Always, thanks to Mike for putting up with all the phone calls. One day I think he'll stop answering the phone...Thanks go out to Aangel as well for some guidance before the build. Overall I think I will be very happy with this truck and it will be my racer so it will get LOADS of use! I'll post a vid of it at the track as soon as it makes it there...

that isnt the final mounting place of the speed controller is it?
what batterytrays are u planning on using?

That was my initial thought too until until I read the "I still need to manufacture a battery tray". Those 2 trucks are real nice. Starting to wish I was converting something other then a savage when I look at how simple those trucks are.

No,

The ESC is just laying in the bottom of the chassis loose and with plenty of slack. I am thinking I am going to make some kind of tray that incorporates a mount for the ESC.

Greetings Skillx! My name is Anthony and I am the guy Elliot was talking to when you were @ T4BB this morning. Thought I would post a couple pics of my batt./ESC mount for you. I used an L shaped piece of allum. mounted to the top of the motor mounts. I found this to be easiest way to clear the side skirt mounting holes. Try to ignore the reciever pack(embarasing), my UBEC went south so I'm making do. If you have anymore questions just post em'; there is a wealth of knowledge to be gained from the brains on this forum, everyone here has helped me out alot.

Forgot two things: I highly recommend the heat sink Mike sells for the 125b. The Quark WILL OVERHEAT without it 9 months out of the year here. And please let me know when you get it ready to race; It'll be nice to have another brushless truggy to run with(trying to pull a battery swap to make a 15 min. main with the nitro's is challenging).

hey what runtimes do you get with that pack, how many amps?
i need ideas for my e-raze project. is it true that you need at least 100a to run a 9xl or brushless motor?

It's a 3700 and the only time I ever tested the voltage cutoff on the Quark, which was set @ 3v per cell, was @ the track under race conditions and it went 10 minutes and 7 seconds geared 13/48 with a p.o.s. XLT4 motor. I would imagine it will probably go a minute or two longer with the Neu motor. I use 1800-2300mah in a five minute qualifier depending on track conditions(and who I'm racing with). As far a 9xl goes, I have no idea.

Not really. The 9xl has a fairly low kv rating which means you would run it on a higher voltage, say 5 or 6s lipo. The result is that the motor makes its 'power' through voltage rather than pulling a higher current (amp draw). This means it may draw a higher current under hard excelleration/braking, but under normal driving and full-throttle it will draw a much lower current. Any good lipo with about 4000mah or so/more and a 20-25c rating should be perfectly fine. Its the 7/8xl motors that tend to be more demanding of the esc and battery (higher kv rating and lower voltage means higher current draw & resulting heat). Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the info man. I can't wait to get this thing on the track at T4BB. I'll have Elliot give you a call when I'm going to race...hopefully the ERevo and Losi will be on the track this coming Friday but may just be the ERevo. She is ready is ready to take on the Pinche Nitros i don't care how long the main is. I may just run one qual.
