Just wondering how good are their motors? Are they better than the feigao motors in terms of effecientcy? I was looking at the 6.5 hv motor and the 13.5 motor. They are both around 3000kv so good for 3s. I have read that they are similar to a 380 size motor internally. Just looking for a motor upgrade for my stampede as my 12s feigao tends to run slightly hot. I would be using the novak motor with a MM, sorry do not want to buy a novak esc.

IIRC, they do not run properly on the MM esc. CC was supposed to have a software update to correct this, but its in the "in process" pile with alot of other things.

I remem there was some dispute w/ ROAR, and castle/Pat d.C. basically said F' it to getting ROAR legallity, and just be content kicking their ass in the non-racer market and plane&boat market. This may have been more towards the motors tho. It centered around the major sensored manu's basically writing the roar rules to their tech (as much as they will deny it), and a poor response from ROAR to a meeting about updating the rules to allow castle's tech. This drama was from a little while ago, so I'm not sure how it sits now.

I tried running my HV4.5 on the MM and it cogged sometimes but when it did, it was pretty bad. Novak motors are way more efficient than feigao motors though. They may even be more efficient than the Neu's since they are essentially the same internal design (though 2 pole) and they have sintered rotors which makes them even more efficient. What I think you should do is just get a cm 4600 which should still be more efficient than the feigao. Gear it down so it matches the speed of the 12s.

No one has denied how the initial ROAR rules for Modified BL motors came about. The rules were proposed by Bob Novak with the participation of LRP/Associated. Novak is proud of the work done to introduce BL technology to racing.

At the time, these two companies manufactured the only motors designed specifically for ROAR-type, 6-cell, controlled racing. Castle did not release the MM until late '06.

Presently ROAR is soliciting suggestions and discussions for Stock BL motors, but has not yet proposed final rules.

hi

i wonder how one could come up with the idea to run a sensored motor on a mm esc? i don't get that. but i may lack information concerning this....

anyway i have experience only with two motors with the mm esc in the stampy. the cm4600 works pretty good but gets quite hot too after a while. those motors do not look much different than the feigaos to me.
the other motor was a plettenberg extreme. it stayed cooler with about the same performance... maybe slightly better.
have only driven it with 7 nimh cells though.

Because a sensorless motor IS a sensored motor without sensors.

jep..but still i guess the motor is constructed how it is for a reason. i would have been surprised if that functioned. but ok trial and error is practical procedure in the rc hobby.

the hv motors have a sensor at the rear of the can, with a cord that connects it to the esc. if the sensor doesn't have anything to plug into, it just means the sensor aspect won't work... but the motor still will.

I run a sensored LRP motor on the Mamba ESC. Why, because the motor is nice + shiny and has mucho power. Too bad novak motors don't have a detachable sensor cable.

A pair of scissors could easily fix that.....

I jest of-course, but I would really like a longer sensor harness- it is the same length as the motor wires, but plugs in further away, so I cant route it quite the same way along the side of the X-braces- it wont reach the senor port that way. If only they made a little extension you could plug in.... (I could always just extend the wires a little, but its not ideal).
