What makes the MMM push 60? - 11.02.2007, 03:57 AM

Is it the quality/specs of the motor, or the ESC.

i was under the impression that the motors used were just Neu's, or Neu copies, and i had a thread about Neu's compared to Bigmaxximums, which resulted in the solution that they were pretty much equal.

so if i ran a MMM ESC and the recommended lipo packs with a BM, would i still be able to get to 60mph??

thanks alot guys

The truck they used( IIRC), was a stock e-maxx. However, it is still possible to make 60s with heavy weight MTs if you use the MMM with a big motor( 1950, 1515) and 6s lipos.

It comes down to the amt of power you can put out (and put to ground.)

For a ~10-11lb truck I would think 2500W+ to ground would be needed.

You can do this w/ an XL even, but if its only 70ish% eff, you are putting out 600+W of heat, that's why high-end hi eff motors are better suited for huge power.

According to posts by Patrik, they used stock Emaxx gearing (18/66) and 6s, with a 2200kv motor

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Yeah, they used a higher kv motor than you would usually use for bashing with 6s. The 1y (2200kv) they used is a powerful motor that would be doing up around 48000rpm on 6s...good for speed runs.
They must have geared it up a bit though, because using the calculator the 1y on 6s with stock e-maxx gearing should be geared for around 48mph or so, unless they used tires with a huge amount of ballooning

To avoid any confusion, I'm not the same Patrick that crazyjr is talking about.

ok, i think i understand

so most motors on the same batteries like the XL's will be able to deliver the same types of speeds as the Neu's and the Pletty's, but will not have the same efficiancy, and therefore not be able to keep it up for as long?

thanks alot

The efficiency will affect overall performance (experts please correct me if i'm wrong). The efficiency is the use of power over burning it off as heat, so if it bleeds off power to heat it does that over the whole time. the cooler the better and the cooler longer the better, that last part is where the efficiency really comes in. But overall is very important as well
