brushless F201 - 10.04.2007, 10:18 PM

just got a Tamiya F201 (1/10th F-1)... i'm taking it brushless w/ lipo... of course.

for the motor, i'm thinking the Feigao 380C-6L (4899kv)

3S lipo on this one... maybe 4-5000 mah. that's 54380 RPM though... is that too much? would 2S give me the speed i want?

for the controller... a quark 65A should do the trick, yes?

now i just need to figure out the gearing. i don't even know what spur gears to use here, as tamiya doesn't actually make any for it. just a regular and a high speed one... both are slow in comparison to what i want it to do.

i'll get some pics going eventually, but is this a good start?

nothing in the garage right now... another revo on the way, prolly

Those are light vehicles, the quark would be a good controller, 2s would be fine on that motor, but will it fit in the rear pod, or is the motor too long? i am sure the s can 380c would be fine, an 7-8s would give you between 4500kv and 5500kv. Just gear for the speed you want, those motors make plent of power for light vehicles. I have a 380c 7s in my xxx-cr and it has too much power on 2s, even geared for 50mph!
