Neu motor for 4s Rustler? - 10.05.2007, 04:23 PM

Does Neu make a motor that woud be apprioate in a rustler running 4s packs? I would need the a good cross of speed and power. I'd like to have 1/8" shaft but I could make 5mm work. I have looked around on their website, but they have a lot of motors. It's hard to figure out which one would be right.

1512 2d is what I'd go with. 38,480 should do good in a 2wd stadium. a smaller motor may be better suited, so wait for other responses.

1512 in a Rustler?!? Way too big IMO. I'd go 1509 2.5D (2700kv, non-finned)at largest, or maybe a Neu 1112 2.5D (2900kv) for a smaller diameter motor. And it turns out that the shaft on the 1112 is an 1/8" shaft!

Yeah, 1509/2.5D, I second that. Or a 1506/3D for 50,000rpm.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Does anyone know if the 1509 and 1112 have the mounting screw holes (the distance between the holes) the same as other 540 motors.

Right now I'm thinking the 1112 sounds like the best one. Hard to know, but I have been really happy with my other new motors. So I probably can't go wrong.

Good question about the mounting hole pattern on the 1112. On the Neu website it says the 1112 is 1.14" in diamater, which is 29mm. Standard 540 motors are 36mm in diameter, and have a 25.4mm mounting hole pattern (25.4mm between the screw holes). My guess is the 1112 has a 20mm screw hole pattern, but there's no way I would know... I'm sure you could contact Neu, they would know :).
