Need motor simular to Lehner 1930 or 1940 - 10.05.2007, 05:32 AM

G'Day, I was looking for a Lehner 1930 motor but they too hard to come by now.

So now i am looking for a motor that has the same or close to the same torque as the Lehner 1930 or 1940 motor.

The motor has to run on 3s (11.1V) and also from a mamba max controler. I am running maxamp Lipo batteries with the smallest being 5000mah.

I would like the motor to be able to run up to about 40,000rpm on 11.1V

Doese anyone have any ideas on what motors would have these ratings? Like any of the Neu motors.

The main thing is that it has to run of the MM controler, 11.1V, 40,000rpm and simular torque to the Lehner 1930 or 1940 motors.

Any information appreciated.

The Neu's will run on the MM, but you'll probably have to play with the gearing and settings to reduce the cogging until Castle comes out with the new software. I'm having pretty good luck with a 1512 1.5d (3200kv). The 1512 series has been compared to the Lehner 1940 series.

Thanks for the info.
I am not too sure waht is ment by the cogging.
I am trying to over gear the truck (Jato) for more top end speed.

Will the 1512 series motor run up to about 40,000rpm on 11.1V?
Are they about the same size as the Lehner 1930 or 1940 motors?
Is there somewhere that I can get the specs of these 1512 motors to work out which one will run up to 40,000rpm and get some power ratings for them?

Any more infomation appreciated.

To figure out the rpm, divide the rpm you want by the voltage you are planning to run and that will give you the k/v you need to order. Example 40000/11.1=3603.6 You would then look for a motor close to 3600 k/v. k/v=rpm per volt. As far as cogging, it's like the motor doesn't know if it needs to go forward or backward, and it just kind of stutters. You can go to Neumotors.com and look at the 1500 series motors for specs. I think the 1940 and Neu 1512 are close in size, but don't have any personal experience with the Lehner. Maybe someone else will chime in on this, and I'm sure my cogging definition needs a little help, but you get the gist.

Criminy! A 1512 in a Jato??!! Talk about overkill IMO - you'll be lucky not to shred the drivetrain from the torque. The 1512 in my 8th scale buggy is insane even geared VERY tall. I can't imagine that motor on such a light 2wd vehicle...

Thanks again for the info.

I have got the KV ratingthat i am looking for. Roughly 3600.

The trouble is the motor.
It has to be able to havdle the over gearing of the Jato. (33Tpinion and 54T spur)

The mamba Max 5700 is a tad small for this.
The Jato has metal gears internal so it isn't a problem.

Will the Neu 1512 or 1515 motors handle this without any dramas and also will they run on 11.1 and the mamba max controler?

Oh yes, the 1512 will handle anything that Jato can throw at it. But, IMO, an L motor would be more than sufficient. You'll want to use a 7L or 8L for 11.1v. The added torque will allow you to gear even higher if you want. If your gearing options are limited, maybe use larger diameter tires - that can add substantially to top speed.

The motors can handle a 10 pound G2R and propel it to 50mph, they should easily handle a Jato, even if it is geared to the moon.

Now, as for the MM handling them with that kind of gearing, thats a different story. Typically the Neu's only work with very low gearing when used on an MM...

when you are talking about the L motor are you taliking about the Feigao 540 Brushless motor?

Do they have more torque than the 1512 motors?

I really want the motor that has the most torque when running on 11.1V and runs up to about 40,000rpm without geting too hot running this high gearing.

In the Neu motors the 1512/1D or 1512/1.5D even the 1515/D motors look ok but will they handle the hight gearing ok?

like bp-revo said it should be able to take the gearing perfectly fine. the only thing your going to need to worry about is cogging (it means when the truck stutters. it jumps and stops. jumps and stops)

Thanks.
It looks like it is either the Neu 1512/1.5D or the 1515/1D motors.

It take it that both of these can run of the mamba max speed controler without any dramas.

Anyone know where i can get any of these motors from.
Had a look at the motors here but none of them are listed.
