should i race it? - 10.21.2007, 11:06 PM

finally, my xt8 is done! mike shipped it back and it should be here on the 24th. there is a huge circle track close by and they are having a big race on the 27th with trophies and all. should i race my brand new truggy and prey on unsuspecting nitros, or should i take it slow and work out any problems before i run it balls out?

Hell start driving now and you can work work out the bugs before the race. You will need to practice driving a new car anyway won't you? I say go for it.

I really dont think anything will easily get smoked. Unless your gearing is way out of wack the 1515 wont draw enough on 5S to overdraw the 224/18...224 amps is a crapload of current capability.

You wouldn't want to overheat the motor though. As BP-Revo said. Test gearing and you should be pretty OK. See how you are going closer to the weekend.

Man, what a question!

It's an XRay... converted by the pros... you gotta go out there and represent!

Nothing against some yard testing first, though. But this thing was MADE for racing.

Have fun, and report back!

Like others have said, There should be no problem with the system as long as you are not WAY off in the gearing, and if Mike set it up I'll be pretty close out of the box.

I will say that that kind of power will take some learing to drive if you arent used to it.

RACE IT!

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

its a good thing i had my g2r(1950/8 on 6s). it taught me how to drive a brushless truck in no time! i'm sure if this truck can be geared for 50-60 mph, it can see those speeds on the track. i raced my nitro crt at the same track, before they enlarged it by 1/3, with a picco .28 and saw around 40mph.
