Inferno GT -
10.04.2007, 12:11 AM
I want a project, and im looking at EVERYTHING again
Im REALLY addicted to touring cars, and the inferno gt is just plain SWEET
Are they a good car for BL? Hows the diffs on them?
And has anyone converted one?
Im thinking 4s, get a motor mount made by Mike, unsure on the motor, and unsure on the speedo.....
Im into the rally thing, and it would be fun
Any imput?

I am thinking along the same lines, but with an OFNA GTP. They are bringing out a roller aimed at the oval dirt crowd. Basically an ULTRA buggy with shorter shocks and a solid ctr spur. Cheap too, under 200 IIRC.
Link: http://www.ofna.com/ugtp.php small box in the center of the left side of page shows the roller.
Figured a 9xl or 1800 kv motor on 5s, geared for around 40 would be nice. Or go HV (8s+) and gear it too the moon for speed runs. It would look impressive doing 70, dontcha think?!?!?!?!?

I forgot about those!
I saw that dirt oval kit in the latest RCCA
Id much rather do that car, or a DM-ONE

7th scale, really getting big =D
What do you think?

7th scale is great. I have a nitro HB lightning street. It is basically a stretched chassis buggy with a 2 speed and a .26 in it. It does 45mph on the dot and has a big tank, so it will run for 15min or so. Simple and great fun, my only nitro vehicle left. Plenty of ground clearance, much more than a TC and it will be impossible to break. Just imagine trying to break a 1/8 buggy on road, it would never happen! The DM1 is very nice, but a little pricey for me. I just think the GTP would be killer done up for 60+ mph, go out and show up all the nitro tc3 and 4tec guys, and then drive over them! Or set it up as a rally car with some pin tires and play in the dirt!

Crap!
500 bones for the big one!
No way lol, the 8th scale kit is 190 bucks at tower, MUCH better =D
Looks really cool, no center diff, wear 8th scale buggy tires, so theres lots of tire options, its cheap, looks high quality
I think this could be the project!

If you are interested, the GTP shares most of its parts with the ULTRA line of buggies. Diffs, spurs(plastic and steel), arms, etc. It looks just like my MBX R2 buggy, just with a lay down steering servo. I ran my buggy good and it never had a single problem. I also like the solid center spur, great for drifting!

I am interested
Especially in the price! Its so cheap, the darn speedo will cost more then the car, which is not so normal lol... A MM inst far off
So if you were going to give me electronics recommendations
Could you recomend a NEU set up? And a feiago set up all on 4s?

A similar setup that a buggy uses should work. 7-8xl on 4s with a MM. Maybe a 9xl on 5s with a quark 125. Neu 1512(1800-200kv) with a quark125(MM?) on 4-5s. Go HV and buy this and run it on 8s with low gearing, like a 10 tooth pinion!

That might be a bit much, but you could use 2500mah lipos on an 8s setup! Easier to package and possibly lighter?!

I dont want to go HV
Im thinking 2 trakPower gold packs in series, or 1 4s, or 2 2s flight power 4900 mah packs
Id rather do the gold packs because I can use them for racing also.. Which is awsome

Yeah the trakpowers look good, wish I had bought them instead of my Maxamps 5000 2s packs. I really want to buy that Kontronic setup, as I have 2 5s 2200 20c lipos just waiting to run something. 10s on my aveox 1300kv L can and low gearing would be killer, and light too.

That DM-1 is freakin sweet! I have had my eye on that since the came out a little while ago. If I run accross one it gonna get converted. You can find them for $499 in a couple places, but I'm on the look out for a lightly used one.
I have seen one run in nitro, its dang fast as it is.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Yeah you can!
Its a buggy that isnt as wide, you can lift it just as high of a buggy if you wanted, atleast the inferno GT is like that.. And it wear buggy tires....
It is awsome, no track time for me, just out front playing

Once you have played with a larger scale on-road car the 10th scale cars seem lame. The larger cars dift better and are just more fun IMo. My HB is really controllable and has great steering. The little cracks in my parking lot do not bother it either.
