I have 2 2s flightpowers and I want to charge them at once, so put them in series. When I look at the balance tap for the battery, there are 3 red and 1 black wire....it doesn't make sense to me and I'm wondering why there are so many wires. Shouldn't there only be 2 red and 1 black wire? Has anyone charged these in series using a LBA10 balancer?
Well, you have two 2s packs. Each pack has three wires. To charge and balance in series, you'd have to make an adaptor cable. See the bottom of this page for a diagram of how to do this.
And this is what a 2s+2s adaptor looks like:
Of course, the above info is for Hyperion/Polyquest balancer plugs, but the principle is exactly the same...
That's weird. Usually there is one more wire than the number of cells. So, 2s=3 wires, 3s=4 wires, and so on. You could always use a meter to determine what is what, just be careful to not let the meter probes touch!
Well, looks like the flighpowers wires are coded correctly and the last red is dead. I guess this means that I can't use LBA10 balancers with the flightpowers since the balancer uses a positive as a ground and the flightpowers use a negative as a ground.
