mamba motor shaft pinion size? - RC-Monster Forums

hi. new to this forum, but gotta say it is an awesome one. My situation is that i'm getting a crt .5 with an electric conversion kit and will be running my 5700 mamba max. My question is what size mod1 pinion would i need to run with it? I don't really have anything to measure the shaft. i did a search but didnt see the answer so was just wondering if i would need to use the 1/8" bore mod1 pinion or a 5mm mod1 pinion. I'm sure its a stupid question but i have no clue how to figure it out. Thanks for any help.

1/8 bore is the same as the mm motors.

Thanks so much now i can place my order :) any sugguestion if i'm gonna run on a track w/ the 5700 and a 3s 6000mah lipo?

If you want to run on a track, it's nearly impossible to control your setup. I would take the 5700 or better the 4600 on 2s Lipo.

BL is definitely correct! A 5700 on 3s would be ridiculous. I ran a 5700 on a 4200mah 2s geared 13/46 and it had way more top speed than necessary for racing. I'd recommend either 2s or a motor with a kv around or slightly over 3000 for the 3s. A standard size motor works alright but runs a tad on the warm side. An "L" motor on 3s is actually alot better suited to the size and wieght of the truck.

what is the "L" motor? i keep seeing that ppl talk bout it, and from what i have read that the mamba motors arent really the way to go, so i figure when this motor sorta gives out, then i'll replace it :) as for the lipos i may look at getting some 2s, but sorta broke and had the 3s left over from my other car. what are some other brands that are decent lipos beside maxamps?

TrueRC has some great lipo packs.

As for a future motor after your Mamba motor dies, the Feigao 9L is a great choice to run on 3s. If you sell your 5700 motor, you may be able to buy it with the money you make.

I'll take a look on truerc, as for selling my 5700, i wouldnt mind,honestly i didnt even consider selling it... just gotta find a place to put it up at. i'm sure ebay would be the way to go, but will try local first and see. thanks for the idea though. so i suppose in the mean time ill just have to have as much fun as i can with what i got :D

Ebay is the way to go, you will get about 50 - 70 bucks if you clean it up good and post good pics!

Why not give the ammo motors a try, tower is selling most below 35 bucks right now. Heres a link to a good 3s motor that should work well in the crt.5:

It is slightly longer than a 9l and has similar kv. I am buying 4 different ammo motors next week and we will see how they perform!

also wondering if anybody has soldered the wires from their mamba ESC to their brushless motor. I ended up having to solder my Mamba ESC to my 5700, so was wondering if anybody else had that problem?

Yeah the 4mm connectors cause alot of problems. I upgraded to some 5mm and it works so far.

cool i'll have to give that a try too then, and ya that motor doesnt seem like a bad deal, thought i was looking @ the input and its starts at 11.1 to 14.8, so seems that the 3s will be a good match. and where did u get the 5mm connectors? the only sizes i found on tower was either the 3.5mm to 4mm

I got the 5mm connectors from uinted hobbies / hobby city. I think that mike carries them in the RCM store, and he will ship them faster than anyone else will.
