I do not see any issues, the feigao shaft is 5mm, and the pinion can be placed on the shaft anywhere without fear of breaking the shaft.
Alot of Savage parts for sale!!!

Feigao and Neu work. The Novaks with the Revo slipper won't fit.

The current Novak shafts are 15mm long as shown in the picture.
For a motor shaft to go the full distance through the hole of the pinion, the shaft has to be 20mm long.
I hope this gives you some idea. In my Opinion, there are some pinions that will work with the shorter shafts and some won't.
