Fuel tank lower than engine? - 01.13.2008, 11:44 AM

I Read its better to mount the center of the fuel tank with the carb of the engine but can It be mounted much lower without any worries (like 1 or 2") Will this cause any problems? Nitro expert please help! thanks

Working on:
Twin CF GorillaMaxx (8S motors on 2x2slipo)
2WD AL. GorillaMaxx (7lbs with batteries)

you will have to have a pipe with alot of back pressure, so itll push the fuel through the lines.

what kind of pipe has lots of back pressure? Would RD LOGICs rear twin exhaust pipe have more than a stock one?

Perhaps, but thats not a very good pipe. Go for something like a Vantage or Traxxas Resonator. This is for your T-Maxx right?

yes it's for my t-maxx but I want to mount the fuel tank below the engine (not the same chassis plate) so you think a traxxas Resonator would do? The engine is an OS 18TM

I would go with a side mount Resonator (one off of a Jato would work perfect) or a Vantage for sure.

thanks squeeforever,

how far below stock do you think I could get away with? 1/2" 1" or more? I'm really hoping for 1 1/2" but I think the best thing to do is start at stock height and drop a fraction of an inch at a time while checking performance.

What do you think?
