Tuning Electric????? - 01.16.2008, 01:11 AM

I just finished my Feiago and mamba powered 8ight-t and took it out today. I am convinced, this thing is fast, yes I can pull a wheelie with a truggy. I am wantint a few pointers at tuning though.
Set-up:
Stock Mamba Max settings w/ 12V cutoff set
Spectrum DX3.0
Feigao 9XL

Problem:
I have not set-up an electric in over a decade! I have to pull down about a 1/4" on the trigger and it just takes off, trigger pull before movement, also no easing into power. I don't want to lose power, just be able to ease into it and yet have full throttle if I want it. Not to mention the brakes lock it up.
-What do the radio settings effect?
-Mamba settings?
throttle curve(i know what it is, but any hint on a race curve set-up)?
punch?
timing?
anyother settings that help?
I am lost and need help tuning so i can actually be able off-road rae and not drag race which is waht it is like. I'm lost. Thanks!

Try these settings.........start power=high, normal timing, punch control try 30% at first and see how that works, run a straight throttle curve till you get the other stuff right, 10% drag brake works good for me and try turn the brake power to 50 or 75%. all that shold get you in the ballpark

Does the DX3.0 have exponential? If it does, you could try playing around with that (mainly to soften the bottem end).

SH Z-Car, Custom Crawler, 8s Savage, 12s XTM XLB 1/7 buggy, 4wd 4-link rear/IFS Pro4 truck, Custom Hyper 10 Short Course, Belt-Drive Mammoth ST 1/8 truggy, 4s 17.5 MM Pro HPI Blitz

You could also set the throttle and brake profile curves using the MM software. You can make it feather smooth on the very bottom end with this software. Its really very nice.

Also if there is a Neutral range setting (I cant remember if there is one or not on the MM) set it to a smaller range than the default. This will minumize the "dead band" before the thottle kicks in.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Silent...But Deadly

It honestly sounds like you just need to go through the initial set up again. After I did my controller has ZERO dead zone and according to the default throttle curves that come stock so should you.

Plug in a battery
7. Holding full throttle on your transmitter, turn the switch ON
A. After a few seconds you’ll hear multiple tones and the red LED will come on
B. Now hold full brake and after a few seconds you’ll hear multiple tones and the
yellow LED will come on
C. Now relax to neutral and after a few seconds you’ll hear multiple tones and ALL
the LED’s will light up
D. A few seconds later the ESC will arm with a double tone and you’re ready to go!
