5000mah Neu Lipo Size? - 12.22.2007, 10:26 PM

Anyone know the dimensions on the Neu 5000mah 4s and 5s packs that RCM has in the store. I dont see those packs listed on the Neu website so I cant find the actual dimensions of the pacs. I am thinking about the 4s 5000mah pack but I want to be sure it will fit in the battery tray I have.

If anyone knows or can measure Id apreciate it. I'm looking for exact dimensions if possible.

At the bottom of the page they have the 5000's

Bye

*edit*- the link above is to the 30c ones, but neu's website doesn't have any 5000's under the 25c page http://www.neumotors.com/20061222/25...Batteries.html I'm kinda confused....

I just ordered a 4s 30c 5000 Neuenergy pack a few days ago, it may take a little while for it to get to me in England over Xmas, but I will measure it and post the size when it turns up.

I'm hopping it will fit my battery tray but the dimensions on the Neu site have it smaller than the Flightpower 20C 4350s that I'm using and I find that a little suspicious.

I'm interested to hear the actual dimensions, but I'm really looking to find out what the dimensions of the 25c 4s packs listed on the rc-monster store. Neu doesnt even have 25c 5000 packs listed other than their hard shell 2s car packs.

Sorry, I didn't notice you where after 25C, I just saw 5000 and assumed 30C like the Neu site.

Those must not be the short 5000mAh cells then. My 3S Neu 5000mAh pack is less than 150mm long.

Is your 3s pack 20, 25 or 30C?

also does anyone know how big 8 gauge wire is? I was expecting huge wire but it is not much bigger than I normally use, they are 5mm diameter around the silicone and about 3.2mm diameter of copper, if that's not 8guage can anyone say what gauge it is?

Thanks for that link Jhautz, it is indeed 8gauge, its just smaller than I was expecting it to be, I must have been using 10gauge for years, thinking it was 14 gauge.

I just went to charge the Neu pack before I use it but it wouldn't wake up my LBA10 balancer, after some poking around with the voltmeter I discovered that while the balance PLUG is hyperion compatible (after a little shaving), its balance lead has a common negative and individual positives, unlike my other packs that have a common positive and individual negatives.

It looks like I will have to strip the heat shrink off the pack and resolder the balance wires onto the opposite tab of the cells before I can use it, I sure hope they have copper tabs so I can solder to them.

I'll give it a day or two first tho, in case anyone else can think of a way around it without risking puncturing a cell removing the shrink or cooking a cell soldering, its not something I want to do, but I cant think how else to make em work. I already soldered connectors on and shaved the balance plug before I realised so I can't send em back.

On the hyperion plug you can lift up a little plastic holder and slide the wire out. I don't know if this solves anything for you but, maybe you could just swap the wires around.

unfortunately there is only 1 negative wire so I could only swap 1 of the 4 cells around that way.

after thinking on it a while I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to open it up and swap the leads round on the tabs.
