Problem - 05.02.2011, 04:06 PM

I've got my crt.5 back from the shelf. But I have a problem running it. The front has traction but the rear doesn't meaning I have a front wheel driven car.

I can't find the problem. Can it come from the center diff or rear diff ? Nothing seems bent or loose. If I lift the car from the ground and give it some throtle, the rear wheels do spin but not when put on the ground.

Thanks

Sounds like a rear diff issue. The only way to find out is open it up and inspect it. With the front wheels on the ground, lift up the rear and see if you can spin both rear wheels in the same direction. If so does the rear driveshaft spin, or not? That will tell you if it is the rear diff, or the tranny or center diff depending on what your setup is.

Also check to make sure your wheels are tight and that the hex isn't stripped. This just happened with my Savage yesterday, I was pissed that I was gonna have to tear it apart and buy a new diff. Did a little searching and found out I stripped the hex on the right rear wheel. Thankfully I had an extra wheel and tire so it's not costing me anything at the moment but it's time for a real set of tires and wheels now.

Yea but that is because he is a Gremlin. He backed it out when you were not looking just so he could get some glory minutes. Anyway that is how you are going to find anything wrong with your truck, is by careful investigation and taking it apart & putting it back together again. Glad you found the problem and that it was really no big deal.

You're right. Sometimes we don't take enough time to just look and try things.

I have another question : I'm looking for a vw beetle body that would fit the rcm extended chassis. Is proline racing (crawler bodies) the only option ?
