Very nice futaba. DS8711 is air servo with first gear plastic. for cars is Z9100T with 370oz at 6V.
i really like my Z9000T in my maxx so for my new truck i ordered 9100T that my friend already uses for about half a year.

You do realize that the 8711 uses the same gear set as the 9000T and 9100T, right?

So what ya'll are saying is that these servo's are stronger than the Hitec 5995TG servo, with max torque at standing torque 541.59 oz-in? Even on the low end it's 433.27 oz-in. @.15 and .12 60* You might want to take a look at that one. I run those in all of my 1/5 scale and most electrics as well.

I would watch UBEC/BEC temps with those really powerful servos since the strong and/or fast ones can pull substantial currents and may cause the (U)BECs to thermal...

I read a test on those super high torque (400oz+) JR servos ( 8000 series or something?) Measured them drawing 4.5A at rest. Lucky though because the draw didn't increase substantially when under load - still a lot for a little bec to handle

Yeah, even the CC BEC heats up quite a bit at those currents, and if it's mounted somewhere enclosed, it could thermal...

But I find it odd that they would draw that current at rest. I can see it being 4.5A of "stall current".

for my money the hitec 5955TG is the best i think... 333oz and .15 speed... and most of all it has a brass bushing embedded in the top servo case to prevent the pin that the gears ride on from wearing the case... in my experience that is the reason why servos fail, the case wears and the gears don't mesh as tight as they used to and they strip...

as long as you have a servo with at least 200on/in you will be fine, the different companies all rate their servos differently, I have the Hitech 5955 and I am very pleased with the results, it does make the humm sound that the JR doesnt, it bothers some people...I guess you could wear earplugs when running your truck if it bothers you that much...

In Germany there are 7,5V servos for direct use with lipos, so if you want the most torque with a single servo, you could go with one of them

That servo is about the same as the 5955 TG servo, from hitec
