Question Need Opinion on durability! - 05.22.2008, 03:35 PM

I love the looks of the new e-revo and want one, however. My past experience with traxxas is the trucks do not withstand very well to abuse at all. I know people love the revo. i know i could always put RPM stuff on but would like it to be tough out of box. Let me know of your experiences of the revo. thanks

I have had a great experience with my BL Revo. Only thing I've broken that i can remember is one rear a-arm, 1 front a-arm, and a pin in the tranny. It is a very tough truck overall.

Man, my Rustler and my Revo have withstood tons of abuse. The only time I've ever broken a part is if I'm being stupid. All of my broken parts have resulted from impact with heavy/immovable objects like curbs and track hurdles. I've yet to break anything running my Revo in dirt.

my Revo has been very durable for the most part, I would replace any stock plastic part with an RPM part (they are made from a composite nylon material that is much stronger than the plastic) escpecially the bearing carriers after a short period of time there will be slop in the carrier. Stay away from aluminum unless it will be a shelf queen...lol....I bought my revo off of ebay as a roller and I have replaced all of the parts except for the shocks and chassis

I have had really good luck with mine. I think the only thing i have broke is a rear a-arm. I replaced them all with RPM stuff so that doesn't happen again. It's a lot more durable than my e-maxx ever was.

The Revo is a very tough truck... That said, I did break a number of parts on mine when I had it, but similar or worse breakages would have occurred with other trucks anyways. Things like the front arms, rear skid, aluminum front pushrods, and plastic steering arm broke. Oh, and one time I managed to snap the axle on a Traxxas CVD, but I also broke an axle at the same spot on a HPI CVD.

I had a revo 3.3 that I just sold. After nearly 4 gallons of nitro I broke 1 set of front a-arms, 2 axle shafts, rear bumper mount, and the nitro motor mount. The a-arms and shafts broke when hitting a pole at 30mph, engine mount after a very violent tumble, and the bumper mount held up to all that abuse but finally broke after about a 25' jump that I couldn't correct and landed directly on the back bumper. The truck was amazing! I sold it so I'd have mney for the new e-revo and more lipos. Now I'm just waiting for Traxxas to release it, already ore-ordered mine!

I liked my revos(I have had 3 of them) and the only weak spots are the rear tie rod ends, shock ends, and from time to time I would break a front pushrod. Im not the best driver so I would expect breakage, but the revo is very durable. I only sold mine becuase I wanted to try out 1/8th scale truggy. tried 1/8th MT(MGT) and I dont like it as much as I did my revos.

so technically what class is a revo? MT, truggy , ??? I have never seen one in person. From pictures and videos they seem to have superb suspension and have a much lower CG than a MT but not quite low as a truggy. Just wondering but i def think i will try the e-revo out.

As far as I know, Traxxas declared the original Revo as a MT.

Bent(steel) or broken(alum) front tie rods, shock ends get sloppy, and the nitro $20.00 header broke 3 freaking times. And the talon tires side walls flex and the wheels rubbed thru the tire. Also my pivot balls have pulled out of one of the axle carrier.
