Unlucky E-Revo - 07.04.2008, 05:36 AM

I borrowed the MM and 8XL from my E-Maxx to test the E-revo...I was able to mount a 5S2P A123 cells, a temporary mounting for the ESC with the radio box was mounted on the reverse titan location..

Used a 22 tooth 32pitch pinion and default Spur

After hours of modding the chassis to fit all those in and calibrated the MM to the Traxxas TX Radio...I made an unloaded test run like I always do, basically truck hanging and all four tires are free to rotate. Half throttle, ok shes fine then a 1 sec WOT, i heard a banging noise....saw the front wheel free spinning and axle is bangin'. it got broken on the tip.must be an unlucky day.

sad to say she wont be takin' dirt today

Any suggestions on a replacement axle, I know there are tons but hoping to get your Ideas...

Thanks,

Jeff

strange the axle would snap while holding it in the air. Seems like something had to have snagged the front wheel.

I've never had a problem from the stock revo sliders. I'd just replace it with a stocker.

It is strange...but it really tore on one ear holding the pivot ball..Im taking picture and will post it in a while...

About something snagged on the wheel...i doubt it cause the wheel free spin for at least 10-15sec and I had to stop it because the axle is hitting the sidewall of the wheel...

I think I would contact Traxxas about that one. Just explain it to them exactly the way you did here.

There's absolutely No wear on those parts and they're not even dirty.

My guess is, that's a bad fill in the injection molding process. Air Bubble at a critical point that made it weak. It should not have failed like that.

I'm sure they will fix you up. They have given me pretty good support in the past. They seem to be some really understanding people. Afterall, they deal with this type of thing everyday.

Good Luck!

Thanks for that Sikes...Well I know traxxas has good support its just that this E-Revo is not yet released by the distributor here so I dont think I can contact them. And USA warranty doesnt apply...but Im getting a replacement soon, just thought there might be some good aftermarket parts that are not so expensive but great quality that someone can share :)

I worked in plastic for 15+years (injection and blowmolding), sorry no rc's. Looks to me, like it didn't fully form. Could have passed qc, but not possibly a stress test. where you see shiny plastic, it should be white if stress induced. Looks like a defect in manufacture

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I agree with the defective part. I've beaten my revo conversion to death, and one thing I have not broken is a stock revo slider. They're pretty darn tough. Looking at where it broke, the air bubble theory seems sound. Whatever the case, I'm sure traxxas will send you a replacement if you contact them directly.

Hay Jeff,
Your local Hobby store should have these in stock (?), just get one off / for a 3905 or and REVO 3.3 and you'll be good to go!, they are all the same part or jump on E-Bay and get them.

If you contact Traxxas don't tell them you were just about to unload 2 gallons of whoopass onto it though. LOL

5S, 8XL? The poor little MM will wonder what hit it. Got to get a video of that

Have fun
Marcus
