new rc18t! which bl setup - 07.08.2008, 03:05 AM

buying this rc18t after looking through the "toughest 1/18" thread it made me want another one!

http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthre...ighlight=rc18t

there are a couple things that will need to be done to it (brushless) but for 150 i figured it was a good deal that i shouldnt pass up.

im going to leave this truck the way it is for a while untill i get the money to BL it. i want it to have a nice setup (neu quark probably)

i figure i will go 2s lipo or get an 7 cell batt for it. what would be a good neu for this size application?

i figure one of these is the one i need
http://www.neumotors.com/20061222/1100_series.html

let me know what you guys think of the truck and everything!

thanks!

I am thinking about tricking out my 18 here is my plan

neu 1515/2y
http://www.atlantahobby.com/shopexd.asp?id=6776

hyperion yc-22L long can, the long can allows you to gear up without too much heat
http://b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=de_YC22L

esc-CC Micro Mamba Pro, it can handle 4s
http://b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=eb_micropro

4s Flightpower pack

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRVY7&P=7

this system would rock.......

Good luck fitting that all in. It would fly but not real practical.

I fly, I drive, but most of all I crash.

looking at your stuff in more depth how will the neu work when being put up to 4s. usually you dont use a 5k motor with voltages that high but maybe its different with smaller trucks?

or are you just going to insane speed?

id think a 2s pack would be right for a basher that gets the motor in around 39k range.

I run the 3s 1500 in my 18 and the 4s is 2mm longer and about 7mm higher, you could use longer fasteners in the plastic dowel for the battery hold down...I could make it work, I have used the hyperion short can before on 3s and it lasted a lot longer than the Mamba ever did...and the 1515 was a mistake...the 1105 is plenty.....lol

my 18 is an on road speed machine you could run the Neu or hyperion that fast...the Hyperion is available in lower kvs if you want and the Neu is available down to a 3200 kv in the 1105 can

I am looking to upgrade my vendetta motor from a Hyperion 4400kv (long can) and was wondering what size Neu would fit. Also are the smaller Neus more efficient and do they have more torque than the hyperions because my Hyperion is running a little warmer than i would like. thanks

t-maxxracer32,

The 1105 2y is a great motor on 2s. I have geared up my RC18r with a 19t pinion and the motor never gets more than slightly warm. On 3s, you'll have more speed than you can handle before you can even think of gearing up and the motor is fairly warm after running a 1500 mah pack. On 4s, I doubt you can keep the car on it's wheels long enough to heat up the motor unless you simply do four-wheel burnouts on a slippery surface which is pretty much pointless.
