2wd E-maxx - 11.25.2008, 11:41 AM

Anybody here running a 2wd light e-maxx? I was thinking of taking all my spare parts and putting up a 2wd ultra-light e-maxx using only 4 shocks, my spare gorilla chassis my panter komodo wheels and 4s lipo with a 10L feigao motor. Running weight with lipo would be around 3100g (6.8lbs)
what do you guys think?

Working on:
Twin CF GorillaMaxx (8S motors on 2x2slipo)
2WD AL. GorillaMaxx (7lbs with batteries)

Typically doesn't work real well, especially off road. You spend a lot of time spinning tires and little time actually moving.

I think that the design of the maxx platform being built around 4wd just makes it an inherently poor candidate for 2wd. The front end being so heavy just creates too much to overcome for rwd only. Of course eliminating the front differential and drive shaft weight would help some.

13.5" wheelbase, 16" wide, 1.5" gc...not quite the same as a stampede
mine would be more like a rustler vxl on steroids... lol
a stampede is a tip waiting to happen! no fun in that for me...

thanks texasSP,

I would have the motor & esc in the back like my original gorillamaxx so that would help. :)

I ran a super lightweight emaxx 2wd. I used the stock plastic chassis and a feigao 15l/9920 combo on 5s lipo. Great truck, geared for about 50mh it was a blast. Liked to do wheelies, but that is half the fun. I had a single speed gmaxx tranny, no front diff, driveshafts or front center driveshaft. It never broke either...

Nah, L can is about the minimum. I would almost say that you may want to go to 5s lipo... But depending on the gearing the 10l on 4s should be fine. At 35mph it will do fine, not sure over that. Feigaos are not that effecient...

I've seen a 2wd emaxx being ran on a single 2s lipo and MM system (esc and motor, I forget the kv rating), and it ran well enough. Lots of wheelies, and impressive power and speed given the platform (it wasnt a lightweight truck as such). An S can should work, but I'd prefer an L can just to be on the safe side- suck it and see I guess.

maybe If I find one cheap I can go with a lehner basic 4200 on 4s lipo!
I think that would make a nice light set-up...

lol just a tad! Do you think that small motor (basic) can carry 6lbs around on 4s lipo?
