Tower Hobbies & Kyosho -
11.25.2008, 06:30 PM
Anyone know what's up with TH not carrying Kyosho products anymore???
I was looking for their new crawler, the Rockforce. Tower doesn't even have a listing for Kyosho under "Shop by Brand". What's going on?
So anyways who sells the Rockforce now? Or has it not been released yet?

Tower has been out of the Kyosho stuff for quite a while now, don't know why. It used to be that most of the stuff they carried was Kyosho.

Wierd... It's obvious that Kyosho doesn't have any problems because they are still releasing new vehicles. I wonder why Tower would drop them; especially if they were a profitable line, which I'm sure they were.

Communication -
11.25.2008, 06:58 PM
Why not just send Tower an email and ask them directly? Maybe there has been some kind of communication issue with Kyosho keeping them stocked with the parts needed or some other company to company issue. I am sure that they will not come right out and tell you the real issue, but they may release some sort of statement that we can desipher a resolve.

Tower, a division of Great Planes, used to be the exclusive importer of Kyosho. When that ceased and Kyosho America was formed, that's when Kyosho got the reputation of being hard to get parts for. Kyosho America has gotten that pretty squared away though, so you should be able to get parts from any decent local shop. If you need to go online, Amainhobbies.com carries plenty of Kyosho.

Well Versed -

That was a very well versed post. To what source do you owe your information to? If this is true, then why not rekindle the relationship between Kyosho America and Tower Hobby, knowing that Tower Hobby is one of the biggest R/C product distributors worldwide and can help increase sales dramatically. Just curious.

Experience is my teacher. Kyosho, Futaba, O.S. Engines, and others were all Great Planes brands. Kyosho split off and we have never seen them there again. I agree they should rekindle the relationship, I don't know anything further on the details as to why they haven't. I sure don't miss the days of $400 (in the '80s) electric 1/10th 4wd buggies from Kyosho though. That has certainly been an advantage of the current setup.

Kyosho hasn't been sold at Tower Hobbies for at least 4 years now. It was due to Great Planes. Best bet would be to get in contact with Amain Hobbies, there the best for Kyosho

Geez. I've never really looked at the Kyosho stuff, but I could swear I've seen it for sale on TH more recently than that.....
Oh well. I didn't know about the whole GP partnership either. It's a shame they had to break that up.
So back to my other question; Anyone know who will be selling the new Kyosho crawler- the Rock Force? I'm really going to get one if I can find out who sells it.
