Where to buy die-cut foam for battery trays? - 12.20.2005, 03:57 PM

A buddy and I are trying to mock up some battery trays out of steel until mike gets the twin force trays in stock. we now have the bare metal trays, but I was hoping to line them with that thin die-cut foam to help cushion and prevent shorts.

Where can I find this stuff? So far nobody even knows what im talking about at the hardware stores lowes/menards etc... (is there another name for the stuff?)

Any help is appreciated! I was hoping to not have to just use electrical tape!

Yeah, you mean that thick and rather hard grey/black foam.. I use it for my speakers as well, the thickness i use is about 3 mm, i also know that it is available much thicker though,

i got mine from a hobby shop (for children)

Ya, the stuff mike uses on the g-maxx chassis (i think he does) and what a few have used on their metal trays for their e-revos.

Now that we thought about it, we might just plasti-dip them :)

You could try searching 'craft foam' on ebay.Lots of this sort of stuffhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Extra-Large-Sh...QQcmdZViewItem .That stuff's 2mm thick, don't know if that's the sort of thing.
FMA make impad but that's more like 6mm thick to absorb impacts.

Alright thanks for the info, but I think we are going to go the plasti-dip route.

I will have to post pics if it turns out (hopefully it does, we have a lot of time in these trays!)
