crt.5 soooo sloooooow........ - 05.10.2009, 01:18 AM

I not too long ago converted my 8T Neu 1515/1y 4s 5350 lipo etc.....
very happy broke the bank though.

Crt.5 converted used the velenion setup 2s 14t pinion stock spur. Too slow it even cogs on startup. The battery is 30C 5000mah I have more 2s on the way.

Will gearing up make that much of a difference? Should I try to get back some of what I paid for the batteries, and get 3 cells? At this time my losi wiped out RC funds for a while. I really DON'T have the option of going MM/Medusa combo right now.

Oh yeah i want to use it on the track only, It seems so slow I dont know if it can even do anything there now. I've seen Toys R Us cars that seem faster.

Well your current setup should get you about 25MPH assuming stock size tires. I would love to see a toy r us car come close to that! But you are a bit under geared, a 18-20tooth pinion should yield better speeds. 18T for a tighter track 20T for a larger one, Use BrianG's speed calculator, it's a great tool. I have a 4800kv Medusa in mine geared for 34MPH and I can get around my track pretty good, I'm running 31-32sec laps with my 1/8 scale and about a 35-36 with the crt.5 on bald tires and a flooded track. Some good tires and I bet I could be almost as fast.
