Neu 1107/3Y

Ok, guys, I'm looking for a new motor to run in my SC10, would the 1107/3Y be a good choice? It has the KV range to keep in in the same range as the 17.5s that are going to be used, just not sure if I should get it or get the heavier 1110 series motors?

Any input would be appreciated.

Neu 1107/3Y specs.

1107/3Y KV=2,250, Weight=3.17, Length=1.8, RM=TBD, Lo@10v=TBD,Max RPM=60K, Watts=300 watts, Max Watts =600 watts, max Voltage=27 volts.

No, the 11xx series motors are made for smaller vehicles. you need atleast a 15series motor as far as power goes.. Depending on the transmission you might need a 1412 neu.

Hmmmm, ok the 14 series you say? The SC10 is 1/10 scale w/ a 2.6 gear reduction in the tranny.

The 1400 series motors have 5mm shafts, I need a motor w/ a 3.17 shaft?

You can find 48p 5mm bore pinions. but not very easily.

Have you looked into medusa motors?

I looked at the Medusa MR-036-050-2200V2-3F, think it would work?

Yeah, the 50-2200 would be good on 3-4s.

The class only allows 2S. I will be running against 17.5 BL motors that are also in the 2200 KV range. I don't want to have to buy a sensored ESC, that's why I'm looking for a 2200 KV motor to run w/ my Sidewinder.

The Medusa 2200 will run fine on 2s, just not very fast. But since you are running with others in the same kv range, it'll be comparable. If you want faster, you could get the 3300 Medusa, but it will be faster than the other motors geared the same. Either way, they are very good motors. With the 2200, if you want to go up to 3s for just playing around, it will be even better.

The 2200 on 2s is only 16280RPM @ 7.4v, and 18480RPM @ 8.4v- fully charged. That is a bit slow, you should consider a 50-3300 for 2s racing.

I have a Castle 4600 if I want to go fast. I want a motor that is close in performance to the 17.5 sensored motors being used in the class.

I have to disagree. The 1100 series should be about perfect for 1/10th. I've been running a Feigao 380 for ever, others were running the Lehner 15 series, even the Novak has a rotor similarly sized to a 1100 series. The 1100 series will put out up to 1000 watts in the longest versions, probably about 600 watts in the 1107 variety, plenty if not overkill for 1/10th 2wd. My plan is to upgrade my Feigao (in a T4) for an 1107.

OP, if you do decide to use the 1107, remember that you will need an adapter plate to match it up to your motor plate holes.
