Battery Question - 05.18.2005, 10:54 PM

Hi. This is directed towards mike. I was thinking of purchasing 2 packs of 3600 cells, the matched assembled one. I was wondering whether or not these were assembled in stick or side by side configuration? Also, would these be a good pair with the Indy 16x4 charger? Im looking for a new, preferably AC charger that can handle the new packs and my old 2400's.

I think my brushless should be rather happy with these.

The packs are stick packs. The voltage on these cells makes them one of the best bargains in batteries if you ask me. They are 1.17 or better and perform excellent. The 16x4 charger is very popular as well and for good reason. It can charge up to 15 cells in series and doesn't need a power supply to do it.

Any advantage having the 16x4 over the 16x3 for my application?

The advantage of the 16x4 is that you could charge both packs together if you wanted. The 16x3 will only charge up to 8 cell packs, I think, while the 16x4 will charge up to 15 cells.

Okay well, sorry to take business away from you. But im thinking of trying to order all that I need from one place. All this distributor carries though is the smc 3600 matched stick pack, this should be very simular correct? As it has almost the exact same price. I also opted for thte 16x3 because I only run one battery at a time anyway, unless the 16x4 is truly worth the money. Im guessing I should charge these at 4-4.5 amps correct? And then discharge them after I run. Will this charger have an automatic cutoff for discharging and charging?

Also, I heard with NiMh batteries you can't run them all the way down. Say like until my truck literally stops? Thanks for all your help.

Tell me all that you need. I can likely provide everything you need. Both chargers have automatic cutoffs as well. Also, it is fine to run your nimh down all the way., but it is a good idea to store them with a little energy left in them.
