killed my 2d, just want opinions

so was running at my local track we just redid, it was loose as heck, so the motor temps were a little warmer. maybe 160ish, ran about 3 packs through, and on the fourth pack 10 mins in it stopped, i pulled it in and the motor was 300!it desoldered my + wire on the speedo side, that was around 180, it is in a losi 8 geared 12/46 on 4s, this motor is only 3 months old, already emailed neu, just looking for any input on what made this happen? maybe just a defect somewhere? i hooked it back up and it rose in temp real fast just revving it, a little smoke came out the wires were secure, with the grommets and such, plus foam underneath, well im done descibing, let me know what ya think, thanks
