Hi, I am planning to buy a neu 1512/2.5D to run on my x2 cr jammin. Will be using 4s 5000. Using a 46 slip diff with 16pinion my speed is only 31mph. What you guys think?

motor will be more than enough however what about neu 1415. it has closed can so you dont have to worry about sealing holes.

In fact I prefer a 1515 series as I can use it on my truggy too. 1512 is abit short.

I am using a 1515/3d on my CRT with 6s beautiful!

He was talking about the Neu 1415 series. Which has the same power output as the 1515.

huh??? who was? dont see anone mentioning 1415 and 1415 has little bit less power than 1515 however it works great in truggy

FWIW, I run a 1512/2d on 4s in a Hyper 8 and it runs perfectly fine. Actually, I had ordered a 2.5d, but there was a labeling issue and got the 2d. Motor kv ~2000 is perfect for 4s IMO. I'd go for it.

i ran the 2d and for long mains it would creep up to around 180-190, the 2.5d will run cooler you just have to gear it up a bit more

Really that sound good, I can't wait to test out the 1512/2.5D with 46slip diff n 4s 5000 zippy on a x2 jammin.

It's funny but I ran the that motor, the medusa 60mm 2000kv and the Castle Neu 2200kv and of them all I like the Castle Neu w/ 4s lipo the best in my 8ight-e. Just the right amount of torque and seems very effecient. This also lets me use my large 9000mAH lipo's for real long amains as well (albit heavy) but nice to have the option. I run the same castle neu on 4s in my 8t truggy now as well and it's more than enough :) They are cheap enough to keep a spare for any 'issues' that may come up. Again the 9k packs is great for 20-22 mins, so in a 30min a-amain I need only 1 swap.

I got that same motor (1512/2.5D/Square-can) to use in my electric buggies, and I've been running it for a few months now. Honestly, I would like to get rid of it myself.

Neu motors have a distinct drag-brake effect. Whenever you let off the gas, the motor is so notchy that it comes back to a standstill quicker than you'd expect. Not saying it's a bad thing, but it's something you'll have to live with. But more than that, I think the motor just doesn't have quite enough power for my liking. At least in my car, which seems a tad heavier than my old Losi 8ight, both of which are/were fitted with the 4mm-thick Tekno chassis and 4S 5K lipos. Let me give you an example: the blow-up-right-after-warranty-expires Novak 6.5s I used to run would muscle my old 8ight and my current RC8 around at 40 MPH easily, throw them over huge jumps without breaking a sweat, and only reach 140dF after a full 18-minute RACE run. The 1512/2.5D just doesn't seem to have the punch and top speed of those old Novaks. I think it's the notchiness and low kv rating that makes it suffer.

Now, that surprises me. Yeah, there is more drag-brake effect, but I guess I just got used to it pretty quick. Power is definitely not lacking. I wonder if there is something wrong with that setup?

PS if you want to fix the drag break effect run the tekno setup w/ the clutch... then it doesn't matter anyway. You don't hear many people praise a novak over a Neu, lol.

Surprised nobody mentioned the Tekin T8 motors. Sizes are pretty much copies of neu motors, and NO cogg torque. The shafts are very easy to spin by hand with very little notchyness. Neu motors will eventually fail because the stiff copper wires fatigue over time. The Tekin motors have solder tabs.

I ran a tekno neu 1512 2.5d/f in my tekno rc8 on 2x spc 2s2p 8000mah packs in series and got about 18 minutes out of it with an rtr weight of 4.2kg geared at 16/46...
It was quicker than the nitros everywhere, ran smooth as with a tekin rx8 and had no drag issue with the clutch setup.

Have swapped to the tekin t8 2000kv truggy motor and it is even smoother but with similar power :)
