Another Batt/ Motor/ Esc combo question - 09.07.2009, 02:45 PM

I know its allways asked but I want to be sure im buying the right combo.

My and my dad both run Hyper9 Nitros and I also have the mbx5 brushless with MMM3, 2000 kv medusa and 3x 4380 25c 4 cell flightpower lipo's. Now dad is allways having Nitro engine trouble so he's decided to go brushless with the hyper as thanks to marvin have just found out all the diff parts are the same so can use the 9e mount as a direct fitment.

So my quesiton is what motor and Batt should I get for him, I have the Monster Mamba which I love and know so think I will get him the same Esc but what about motor... what about 2000kv tekin or is that to much? Would like to keep it on 4 cell bats as then we can swap/ changes batterys, would also like 20 mins run time so he can complete a nitro final! Was thinking of the 5500 25c Hyperion, my 4380 flightpowers do 15 mins so think this will be enough...

Any sugestions?

A slightly slower kv motor and slightly high mah 4s lipo would be perfect for a 20 minute race in my eyes. Maybe 1700-2000kv, but definately atleast 70mm or 1512 sized or larger. Depends what you can find really, or how much you're willing to fork out- Cant speak from experience but I would look in the buggy section to see what others are using in similar setups to get good runtimes- there are a few runtime related threads around too so its worth having a bit of a dig.

Is there any particular reason why not to go exactly with same setup you have in your mugen? if you are happy with it and it's working fine . I would go with it too.

and as I don't like saying that, tekin just not proved it's reliability in long runs so I will go with NEU .. ask castle support for tip which one to use, they have been great and helpfull while I was communicating with them.

well what I would do... is this one
http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=4400 but it's not in stock anywhere
5s it is. if you will run 4s than use speed calculator to choose proper KV and gearing

and btw new hyperion VX packs are just awesome.
