Man that thing is incredible, it can handle 1 AND 2s!!!!!

Who uses 1s lipo? Save for the micro heli and plane guys. Is that going to be the new ROAR class. 1s lipo powered stuff? Maybe make the vehicle 30lbs, and power them on 1s? Then all of those "540 amp" capable escs will be really getting a workout...

But this does have a built in BEC, that must be a first...

Quite true, but I think it will be a pass thru. That way the servo is reacting at the same speed as the rest of the car...

It might be just the hype going on when the CRC guys won some races using them. I've contacted AE, got a reply, but then nothing more. I hope that people buying this ESC wins many championships .

They are charging for having figured out the optimal timing for running spec motors on 1S LiPo.

The big thing for Carpet racers is now spec motors (typically 13.5 and 17.5) on 1S Lipo. This speedo has timing profiles optimized for those spec motors running 1S Lipo for oval racing. There is a big to-do about this because the optimized profiles supposedly were good for .1 to .2 seconds a lap at the "Ovalmasters" race.

The interesting thing is that some industrious folks figured out how to mod a MMP (have to actually take some components off the board) to use it with 1S Lipo and then used the C.H.E.A.T. mode and were just about as fast.

Tekin is promising to shortly have the proper timing profiles for their RS series to match or exceed the AE speed control.

This speedo generated lots of complaints among the oval crowd because all of a sudden there was a speed advantage to be gained by spending lots of money. I think they are all hypocrites - they have no problem spending $400 on the latest and greatest chassis every year, but a speedo? No.

What is so cool is that the Castle MMP for $128 is competitive with this - really sticks it to all the guys that spent $400.

They are quite small and powerful little components. I mentioned this before in another post some where.

Edit: A good one would be to have a step up and a step down DC/DC regulators to do the job from 1-12S. Find a way to have the MCU or something else control it automatic if one goes from 1S to 2S or 12S if he's feeling happy.

Well, DE has the "Anyvolt" micro, which steps up or down as needed. Probably not enough current handling capability as-is, but they could beef it up if the market was there. From what I can tell, it is meant to be a high efficiency version of the linear regulator LM317T with similar specs, except it has the added bonus of stepping up.

Most 1s racers use the Novak Smart boost 1 lipo module.

Wow, I had no idea people were that dumb. Running 1s lipo? Why not make a real sport out of it and see how many people can run a 1hr race with 200mah? That would make for a fun spectator sport, car made out of paper moving at snail speeds to conserve energy... At least you could use a cheap speedo...
