That truly is incredible. We are all witnessing a miracle break through because of this one young lady. For families who have autistic children they can finally understand at some level that their kids do feel and want to express themselves, but just do not know how. She found a way out of her own personal prison. I had goosebumps watching this. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.

It's great that she finally found a way to express herself and communicate with others. This proves that mental disabilities have so many different levels. Just saying someone is "autistic" is as vague as saying they're "sick". Clearly her version of autism is not affecting certain parts of her brain, which leaves her with this ability to communicate through typing. My Mother's friend has a son with autism and he can speak, though he only responds with certain phrases, or just repeats part of what you said if it's what he wants. Everyone is different.

Amazing stuff...I've been lucky enough to watch my son have his Cochlear Implants switched on - you can see it happen in his face, the sensation is obviously overwhelming. I can post the video if anyone's interested?

I assume that you are refering to hearing loss. I would love to see video of your kids first hearing experience. That must have been amazing. Congratulations.

Nice to see medical science doing what it should be doing PBO, your son has the gift of sound, that's wonderful!
Luc replied and said he hasn't touched an RC all summer. I'll let him elaborate on that as he wishes, but I asked him to chime in if he has the time.

Thanks guys, it's amazing how technology changes lives. Max & our family have been exceptionally lucky. Max is very normal & unless his hair blows up you'd never know he has Cochlear devices...he's 5 now, at school & a happy normal kid - who can take his "ears" off when his sister is annoying him!
If as much lateral thought could be applied to using technology in helping disabled people as making money, the quality of their lives would improve, health care costs go down, pressures on struggling families reduce etc. Problem is there's often not justifiable commercial return for this R&D...crying shame
