yeah, a BEC would work, assuming you are talking about an external BEC, in fact, the UBEC was initially meant for plane/helicopter use.

Some motors are outrunners, (meaning that the outside of the motor rotates and the inside is fixed onto something)

but in general, yes, you can use helicopter motors on cars/trucks.

what do you meen by a 380 or 540?

cause im finding all kinds of brushless motors selling from japan or china for like $25.00 buy it now price !!!

i could afford this a lot quicker than U.S. prices

or how about a reedy NEO ?

this is in question for my stampede, im sure you all knew that though....

what specs do i need to look for, i can do all the typical mods and such, suspension and things, but i really have NO CLUE when it comes to the electric motors and electronics....

380 or 540 is the can diameter. The reedy neo should work for the pede. I am not sure on the turns or capablities of it.

Peace!

IIRC, you're building a FLM Pede, right? If so, I'll recommend a Feigao 540 8S and BK Warrior 9920 ESC. The combined cost of those is just a bit higher than a Novak or LRP combo and it is head and shoulders above them for power output.

Here is a look at my FLM Pede:

And here are links to the motor and ESC:

skellyo, thats great, thankyou, and that is cheaper than the mgm 80/lehner basic 4200 i was think about going with, how do you think these two would compare, and what size pinion and spur are you running?

IMO, the Lehner is made better, but not worth 2X the cost. I don't have any experience with the MGM ESC's. I am running a Lehner Basic 5300 and BK Warrior 7718 in my Tamiya TB EVO III touring car though. I am very happy with that combo...so long as I can keep the car from kissing the curb.

I am currently running 17:87 gearing and have a hard time keeping the front wheels on the ground unless I roll on the throttle. I'm hoping to have my 9 cell packs built in the next couple of weeks to see if this thing can grow some wings.

I'm going to try moving my batteries as far forward as possible before I try to change any gearing. I'd venture a guess that 19:87 will still be ok as far as keeping things cool though.
