I posted this on URC and thought you guys might get some use out of it too. It is not meant to be a full list by any means, but as a list to help you start picking out bl systems.



Brushless setups for cars and trucks


This guide is meant to give you an idea of what to look at for certain cars. There are thousands of combinations out there, so be creative.

Things to know when purchasing a brushless setup:

* Sensored has a good startup (little cogging) and is good for racing, but has limited cell capabilites.
* Sensorless doesn't have quite as good of a startup (cogging), but the difference between sensorless and sensored decreases as the technology progresses.
* Sensorless motors and ESCs are usually capable of handling high numbers of cells (12-40.)
* The Kv rating is the number of RPM per volt: the higher the Kv, the faster the motor will be on low cell counts. Current will increase if used in the same application with a lower gearing (bigger pinion/smaller spur)
* A lower Kv motor with a higher cell count will usually provide longer runtimes and be easier on the ESC and motor.
* Check out the stickied brushless manufacturer index for more info on the parts listed.
* Always check the amp ratings to make sure the ESC will handle the motor.
* Don't overgear your setup, don't push it to excessive speeds (60mph on 12 cells)

It would be easier to give a current/voltage rating on the controllers. I will look a bit closer into the motors later this day.

Some cars/trucks would do well on a 7018/20 as well. The Warriors, are no micro's and they can be used for all trucks/cars (if rated in current and voltage)

where's the lehner 1950?

Well it is missing a few. Plettenberg big maxximum, bk micro series, the 1950 lehner, some run the 22 seres lehenrs,
I have an emaxx and run the motor you have in the revo list as well. It is a very well put together list. hard to remember all of them.

Thanks for the compliments. I made it with the brushless beginner in mind. I didn't put the Lehners in because they are so much money. When I get some time I might be able to add the lehners as well as prices for all of the listed motors. I'll try working on voltage as well.

Depending how many cells you run, if its 14 than a 9xl on a 9920 would make your truck alot faster than stock!

YA can't you use an xl motor on an e-maxx?:013: thanks for posting that up some of the noobs in BL, sutch as me! will take this into lots of consideration.

harry, it also matters about run time, it's pointless to make a super fast truck and drive it for 10 mins. You would want to think about your runtimes.

thanks sylvester, the xl is the same price as a L motor. and for me i would want an Xl for nice run times, and way batter temps.

Great List Jagboy! Especially for a new guy. Can you take a minute and anwer a couple futher questions on set up-
How do you match controller, batteries and motor using those numbers?
What mechanically does "turns" mean? (I realize a 8 turn is faster on fewer cells than a 10, but why)
Those two answers would make everything I am reading clear! Thanks!
