esc question - 06.25.2006, 10:19 PM

Lets say I have a 6000kv motor rated at 22amps, what would be the appropriate size speed control? I have a choice between 25a and 35. Would the 35a last longer than the 25a and would the 35a burn up the motor? New to this working on a rc18t.

I'd go with the 35A one because the other is too close to the motor requirements and may heat up too much. The 35A ESC won't have to "work" so hard and will probably last longer as a result. BTW: the amperage listed is what the ESC is capable of - it doesn't simply push that much current into the motor. You could get a 100Amp ESC and it wouldn't hurt anything (except your wallet and be a little overkill).

If any question the 65 amp quark may be a good choice.
