11.26.2006, 09:42 AM
Hey guys the natinals is over and i did 2nd in qualifying and 2nd running during the 1st heat and didnt get to finish because my pinion"s grub screw was gone again with super glue holding it already. tried to solder it but last only for 3 min. so ended up not even getting points. anyway getting back to my question right nw m geared with 66/18 and m wanting to change my pinion to mod1 cause it could fit the 5mm shaft of my 9XL. So i need SOME HELP here cause m so frustrated today. would appreciate some suggetions on whats the perfect gearing. i already have the MOD 1 11&13T pinion. also what spur will match with my existing pinion and what brands couls i get.

you can get the 32 pitch gears from Mike as well, look in the transmission and gears section. As for mod 1 you would need a 49 to 51 and a strobe slipper
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

There is also another source for 5mm 32P pinions as well if Mike doesn't have what you need.

The size of the teeth have nothing to do with the fitment. The XL however, needs a pinion with a 5mm bore.

Why is the grub screw coming out? It's no surprise that solder didn't work as you'd have to heat the pinion and screw up enough to have the solder bond well, and even then it won't be the best. Not to mention the solder won't bond to the grub screw. Have you tried loctite? How much "meat" is there for the grub screw to grab into?
