Right first off great forum guys, learnt so much already:027:

I should hopefully be building an electric revo If i can get the roller from sumwhere.

Couple of q's that I would like answering.

Firstly the e maxx tranny on a stock revo chassis, is it just a case of filing a few bits of metal here and there, and then all the screw holes line up? Or do I need to drill more holes?

Second: whats a strobe slipper? Do i really need one?

Thirdly: WHat centre drive shafts do I need to get?

ANd finally what is a slider?

You will have to file some to get the maxx tranny to fit. Then the four main tranny holes will have to be elongated to reach the maxx tranny holes. If you want more stability than four holes, you can drill four more.

Strobe slipper is a high performance alternative to the stock method (which melts under BL power). It is all explained here. You'll need a few extra parts and the 51T spur, but that's all explained there as well. Note: make sure the slipper is tight or you'll wear out the strobe slipper pads.

Sliders are the driveshafts. The Revo uses tubes that slide in and out for easy removal, but due to the way the maxx tranny sits, those shafts will rub against the bulkhead. So, you'll need custom dogbones made. Mike can set you up.

As to a roller, I can set you up the the front/rear ends, custom dogbones/cups, and other stuff. It's used though. PM me if interested.

Thanks for the help, Ive got a roller in mind on ebay as im in the Uk and dont want to get stung by customs.

Not gonna go brushless yet as im strapped for cash, plus I wanna see what the nae maba maxx packages are like.

What driveshafts does the emaxx come with, could I use them with the tranny and would they fit into the revo drivecups?

I can't say much about maxx shafts since I never used them, but they are pretty small in comparison to Revo shafts and they break relatively easily from what I've read here, unless you don't get a motor that's too powerful.

I actually use the stock Revo center shafts. I did have to cut a small part of the chassis out at the back but it wasn't a problem after that. I even use a wheel slider up front with a one-way i made.

The exploded views from Traxxas. Depending on what you're doing, you might want to think about how you are going to build this. Buying all the parts seperately can be insanely expensive. IMO, it's best to buy some stuff on eBay (diffs, shocks, chassis, axle carriers, etc) and then the small or cheap things locally. If you don't mind selling things yourself on eBay, you could even buy a whole Revo and sell the motor, tranny, fuel tank, electrics, etc.

James, if this project isn't in a big rush your could wait a month untill a user name sylvester comesback. Hes selling a roller really cheap! hes out vacation.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you (and I) need to figure out an alternative to the strobe slipper. It's been out of stock almost everywhere for the last year. Mike: any info on these coming in anytime in the near future? Can anyone that has one get me dimensions, so I can get one machined?

I thought about getting a strobe type non slipper. Just put in on the shaft and let it break stuff. That away it is not slipper to wear out. But that is just a crazy idea i have. :D
