I use the TME Xtrema usually with my Commonsenserc balancer. Good combo IMO. I set the CC/CV threshold to 4.15v to add a little extra cycle life (hopefully) to my lipos and it doesn't reduce runtime by any noticeable amount.
If that charger is busy, I use my old Hyperion EOS7i and LBA10 setup...
Well, I use a Mrc 989, Duratrax ICE, or one of 3 hyperion 5i chargers. I have a variety of equinox, lba6 and flightpower V balancers that I use with each chargers. All work well, and would not hesitate to recommend any of them.
I use the MRC "super brain" 977 pro (which by the way WILL NOT charge lipo batteries without destroying them). Few hundred dollars go poof in a matter of months. It's ok for nimh though.
Technically, you could charge lipos with a NiMH charger, providing the charger lets you adjust the current on-the-fly. When the battery voltage gets close to 4.2v/cell, just reduce the current in small increments to keep the voltage at that point. Once the current reaches about 1/10th of what you started with, terminate the charge. This is pretty much what all lipo chargers do (which is why I call it "adaptive constant current" instead of a true constant voltage charge). Of course, you'd have to sit there and watch the voltage like a hawk, not to mention the potential for "problems" if you forget...
Cool, so you got one of the first run huh ? I'm curious what packs you are charging and what the charge rate is when using auto. I have had the Cellpro 4s since right after it's release, and it's never given me a hiccup.
