Hyper PBS conversion on 12S lipo!! - 09.24.2007, 12:13 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is our OFNA hyper PBS electric conversion:

We use a NEU 1912-1Y "ORK" motor and run it on 12S lipo with a CC phoenix 85HV. We choose that motor because it spin at max 36K rpm (max torque between 20K & 30K) therefore minimum gearing mod was required.

However a metal casing has to be made to seal the motor from dirt.

We first powered it with four TrueRC 11.1V 2100mAh packs in serie, these packs had powered a swift helicopter for a year so they were good for a suicide retirement. We didn't how much power the system could drain so we didn't wanted to risk fresh packs.

The buggy have an infinite amount of power, top speed in the 80-90 km/h range and it throw rocks so hard it's almost dangerous.

We had a small bashing session today in a dirtbike track and recorded it with eagletree micropower. The prop/headspeed measurement is actually ground speed calculated from motor rpm/gear ratio and tire diameter.

From that graph we can extrapolate a run time of about 14mins

Already saw your conversion in a other forum. Very inspirational. High Voltage for sure is the right way to get an efficient and powerfull electric setup.

Although i am "only" runnig 10s1p A123 (33V) in a buggy geared for 67 km/h top speed i see similiar numbers with my eagletree logger running a Neu 1512/1Y (1400kv).

Runtime with 2300mAh is between 13-17 minutes. Average Amp draw is around 10A. Average Watts are between 280-350 Watt. Subtracting your short breaks your average Watts and amperage should be in the same region.

A video of your buggy would be very interesting.

i posted 2 videos with eagletree data inserts of my setup in this thread.

And lutach is coming up with a very interesting setup (10s) too.

Very powerfull setup >3kw

One would have to install 2 nitro .21 motors to equal this amount of power.

Good job with the eagletree inserts.

It is not part of the radio system. It is a separate unit which is called eagle tree. You can find more info on them here:
