Whats the best lipos and charger? -
02.07.2008, 09:26 AM
Hi everyone, sorry for the newbie post, i'm still pretty new to this stuff, and i know i get a bit pssed off when i see "whats the fastest brushless motor" threads over and over again. Buuuuttt...
since i am considering lipos, i was wondering what a good charger to get would be. Has anyone had experience with the Hyperion EOS0610i?:
http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=2058
also, what are the better brands of lipo's, i was thinking along the lines of flightpower?? are there any others i should consider?
thanks in advance
jordan

I've got a 1210i and I love it. I'd assume the 0610i is the same, except for a lower cell capacity. It's a great charger.

From what I have read / searched one of the best chargers for LIPO's is the FMA CellPro charger. Might be a charger to consider. There is also a bigger Cellpro charger being released soon. jmo.

I don't have too much experience but I am really partial to my Apogee LiMn packs. Their customer service is awesome too.
*Edit: I forgot to add the charger. I have been using a Duratrax ICE and it does ok.

I think the hyperion line are great chargers.
See this post for all the differences between the chargers: (Download the excel spreadsheet)

I have a 1210 and it does A123 cells also, which I really like. I also have a Hobbico accucycle elite. It was my first charger and was great also. It comes with a power supply and can do 2 batteries at once. But it can only go up to 3 cell lipos.

I have the hyperion 0610i charger you linked. It works flawlessly. Very simple to use and easy to transport. I bought this one since it can go up to 6s lipos, and my old Ice charger maxed out at 4s. The built in lba10 balancer is a nice feature too, since I'm absent minded an have forgot my balancer at home a few times during road trips.
As for lipos, there are a few great companies out there with similar quality products. People around here generally approve of these companies:
- Flightpower
- Thunderpower
- Hyperion
- Apache
- Neu Energy
- Polyquest
There's two sides to every schwartz, he got the up side and I got the down side.

thanks for all the info guys, definately very helpful!!
I'll have to start looking into all those different brands of lipo's now. Can the 0610i charge to batts at once, for example two 3s packs at once?

The 0610 can charge two 3s packs in series. I love hyperion chargers, and the batteries are good too. Post 6 is a great list of quality cells.

ok, so i've done some sniffing around and i need some opinions. Which do you think will give me the best performance seeing as they're all roughly the same price.
Thunderpower eXtreme V2 5000mah 3s packs (Max continuous discharge 25C, Max burst discharge 50C, Max continuous current 125A, Max burst current 250A): http://thunderpowerrc.com/html/extreme-V2.html
Flightpower EVO 25 5000mah 3s packs (25C 125A CONTINUOUS, 50C 250 AMP BURSTS DIMMENSIONS: 167MM/48.3MM/26.8MM): http://www.flightpower.co.uk/index.a...p^currency=USD
Flightpower EVO 30 4500mah 3s packs (30C 135A CONTINUOUS, 60C 270 AMP BURSTS DIMMENSIONS: 165MM/46MM/25MM): http://www.flightpower.co.uk/index.a...p^currency=USD
i'm kinda confused because i can either get a higher mah, or larger um... "C" values (excuse my noobness) for roughly the same price
thanks for all the help

Just go for the gold and get some 1500 nicd venom packs, and a mega 1 timed charger. You can easily get 45min runtimes and charge in 10mins with this setup.
Note the sarcasm.
