RC-Monster Battery Trays (Custom) - 06.17.2008, 11:07 AM

I had Mike make me some battery trays for my Max Amp 10,000mah batteries last week. Overall it was a great experience.
The custom trays were made in under a week (received 7 days from when I ordered them). The quality on the trays is great (my personal experience trying to machine plastic was not nearly as clean).

Now that I have the trays installed, the buggy looks so much cleaner, the trays are stronger then my homemade ones and this is definitely one of those times I am happy spent the money to have it done right.
Great job Mike

I've been considering placing a custom order myself - what measurements did you give when you placed the order? (ie: inside or outside length and width dimensions, height, etc)

Thanks.

I asked him the typical wall thickness, once I got a reply I told Mike the internal dimensions and the wall thicknesses (one wall was thinner then other three).
I am not sure if the wall height can be changed (well I am sure it can be made lower, but I think Mike would need to buy thicker material to make taller walls.
Also, you could probably adjust the base thickness (which would inversely effect the interior wall height).

Mike was very helpful and flexible. He did recomend if I wanted anything complex to Use CAD (I sent him an approximate scale image I made in Microsoft Publisher).
Once I finished installation (need to trim some screws) I will post a pic. I think they look 1000% better then the home made trays I had in there before.

Cool! Mike's work is always top-notch, and it's good to hear that these are no different. I'm looking into getting a custom tray done at some point, so this looks like the way to go!

For a basic battery tray, no need for a CAD file - just the needed dimensions is enough. A custom fitted tray for a specific application would be best served with a CAD file - or at least enough info for me to understand exactly what you want.
I plan to update the trays to eliminate the spacer plate on the existing trays as well (relieve the tray bottom to clear the mud guard instead of spacing the whole tray up with the spacer plate)- should be able to get the battery about .15" lower in the chassis(important for buggies) with less weight (not heavy to begin with, but an ounce of savings is an ounce of savings!) and the same overall dimensions(so about one cell lower for most batteries).
:)
