Its been a while sence I have locked mine in second but I will do my best....

Basically go through the manual on how to adjust the shift point, and the screw that you adjust for a earlier or later shift, screw it in the direction ( screwing it out ) for a early shift. Basically screw it out as far as possible without it falling out or rubbing on something, then put a whole crap load of loctite or ca glue on the screw so it holds its setting.

Now your tranny is locked in second, you still need mechanical brakes if you are running a brushless conversion because there is a one way bearing in the tranny so your esc brakes will do nothing to stop the truck when applied.

BTW, locking your tranny in second gear makes the tranny 136.77% stronger lol. Basically almost all the time when someone breaks their savage tranny gears is because of the sudden slam when it shifts from 1st to 2nd.

I wonder if you could do the same type of thing that is done in the Revo tranny to lock it? Basically, physically couple the centrifugal clutch to the second gear. This would be a true lock and thus would allow you to use motor braking and even reverse. And, depending on the design, you might be able to remove first gear and OWB to reduce some weight...
