Losi Mini LST2 diffs - 04.30.2008, 10:28 AM

So has anyone made steel (or at least some kinda of metal) spider gears for the MLST diffs yet?

Been searching for so long and haven't found anything, except that there a few companies that are working on it. How hard can it be for one of those big aftermarket parts manufacturers to make a gear? I'm sick of replaceing all my internal diff gears every second run. It's either that or run it underpowered

If anyones seen anything please let me know, I love my MLST but I hate constantly rebuilding diffs...

Join the club, almost everyone I know that has a mlst got rid of it due to diff problems. I ran the viscous diffs in mine, but modded them so that they were not o-ring sealed and just put grease in them. The orings cause issues with the internal gears moving around. I sold my truck.

Why havn't any manufacturers caught on? All they have to do is release a set of steel gears that fit, and theyre pretty much guaranteed that every MLST owner will buy them.

I ran ball diffs all around in mine, just ran them tight and locktited them, still had to rebuild often though. Switched to viscous diffs when they came out, then finally sold it.

the viscous diffs were crap. the MLST2 diffs hold up better. Still, it's not perfect. I've had my MLST a couple years, havn't run it much in the past few months as I got tired of taking it apart to repair diffs. It's a shame, since it's such a cool little truck.

pack the stock mlst2 diffs with thick grease and i mean PACK it in there also shim them to mesh good and tight, im running a mip ball diff in the middle setup as said in the instructions, i had not had any problems with the front and rear diff but mine mostly stays with the stock motors, i did run the truck through 6 1350 3s packs using the brushless setup from my trinty now, and i still didnt have anyproblems but its back to the stock motors now that i put the brushless back in the trinity.

I have put Inferno 09 diffs (all steel: spiders and all) into the MLST with a little work. It takes a bit of modding, and money ($60-$70) but so far I have run 4 3-cell packs through running a Wraith 7k and they seem to have held up fine. That's already more than I have done with the MLST2 diffs and my abusive driving style. I have almost finished my tutorial on how to put them in, I could probably get a post up here in a day or so.

Go crazy like I did . I did the following: 2 sets of viscous in the garbage. 2 sets of 3Racing ball diffs http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI and stripped the ring gear, got extra ring gears http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI, but tried them with this http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI (Differential Pinion Gear GPM) and that failed. Got this http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI (aluminum center locked spool) and this http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI (MIP Hardened Steel Bevel Pinion Gears), it ate the ring gears pretty quick and waited for a solution. Got a set Atomic ball diffs http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI and http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI (Steel diff spur gear), but they didn't fit the aluminum diff cases. Are you guys confused yet. Well I am . So after the Atomic ball diff din't fit, I almost sold my MLST. I tried the Steel diff spur gear with the 3Racing and it fits, but locks up the diffs. So I put the plastic ones that came with Atomics diff and now it works and has been working great, plus replacements are cheap http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI (Replacement Ball Diff Spur Gear). I tried it first with a low Kv YS22-3000 and now I have the YC22-5000. So all you need to get is the 3Racing ball diffs http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI, Atomic diff spur gears http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI and MIP Hardened Steel Bevel Pinion Gears http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...&cat_name=MINI.

Edti: more info here: http://www.one18th.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57034. They should make a sticky with this one .

joeld: I've just recently heard about making inferno diffs fit, I'd love to know how to do it, I'd definitely spend the money, this is probably my favourite of all my rc's! (or would be if it didnt go through a diff every time I land on the throttle.)

I've found the IH226 diff gear set which looks wicked strong, but I cant seem to find any kind of diff cup or housing or anything (not even a part number) to see what It looks like and what the mod might entail. Are these even the gears you use?
