Brushless combo - 06.02.2008, 07:50 AM

I'm thinking about changing my plan of running a Medusa 36-60-220Kv with MMM and 6S LiPos on my emaxx. Emaxx is built mainly with aluminum parts. Gmaxx chassis, UE 8mm cvds, UE 6 spyder diffs, Traxxas aluminum bulks, EXT and racerx suspension, monoblock extension, 3906 tranny (locked in 2nd gear).

So, instead of the Medusa, I want to buy a Neu 1515 1Y (from tekno) and run it with the MMM and 6S lipo.

Any input is very much appreciated .

IMO that would be too much battery for that motor, I like to shoot for a total of 35,000-40,000 rpms in a set up

6s-2.5d
5s-2d
4s-1y, 1.5d

these are some combos I would suggest and the higher voltage/higher turn motors being the prefered but more expensive they will have longer run times and run cooler...happier systems.......

I'm running the 1515 1y on 6s 22/65T on a 3905 emaxx and I like it. Granted I can't speak for the long term reliability but now my motor temps are cooler than with 5s & 4s and it's ridiculously fast and lots of torque.

Hmmmm, interesting. Any other experiences you can share? I can also buy a pair of 2S1P 5000 and wire each of them in series with the 3S for a 5S setup.

I'm by no means an expert but I think it's a good idea because you'll then have the flexibility to do 4s, 5s and 6s and be able to play around with different gear set ups as well. I geared 26/58 for speed runs and gps'd 61.2mph on 6s. Then geared 22/65 for grass/dirt yesterday also on 6s. I had trouble keeping my temps below 160f on 4s (this with smooth can), but the teckno neu is finned so you might be ok even on 4s. I'm up loading a clip from yesterday and will post here as soon as it's done.

here's the vid. Might want to turn sound off. Audio got corrupted when I joined clips.

Rabosi, thanks for the video. Nice front flip you got there :).

You're absolutely right about the different combos I can run by buying a pair of 2S. Thanks.
