Mastech power supply clones - 06.08.2008, 10:29 PM

Howdy, I've made contact with a HK based company that sells similar power supplies to mastech (similar as in identical looking and model numbers). they will ship single units, and I can get an HY3020E for $225AU delivered ($500 for the real thing, if you manage to find it in stock) and $415 for the HY3050E (havent seen a real one here, $500 for another brand clone on ebay)

Has anyone had any experience with these clones? Should I expect it to be as good as a 'Mastech' brand one?

Looks like no one has dealt with those clones I guess. Even though the clone is VERY similar, I don't know if I'd spend a few bills to take the chance. It could be great, or it could be crap...

I have seen that company and they might have copied the Mastech power supplies pretty good or they are the place that builds the Mastech unit and decided to do their own brand as well. I have the schematics for the Mastech HY5020 somewhere in my datasheets folder.

I have seen about 4 different branded clones. I wonder if they're all from the same factory?

These are the guys I'm taking about, based in China not HK.

If you visit the website be warned, I'm pretty sure it's written for IE and not using Firefox (even though it hurts) will result in a more pleasant viewing experience. Did on my computer anyway hah.

Upon further inspection, it looks like they make a number of mastech products (http://www.hy-elec.com/docce/dl_prod03.htm) as well as fluke and some other known brands. Looks like I could be in luck...

Yes, that's one of them. I did search for the main PS builders in Asian and found a few of them. The only problem, it would take me a while to find them again.

Edit: It seems they have aded a few new models. The HY5030E is lookig mighty good.
