Anyone have a good referral for a machinist? - 11.03.2008, 08:34 PM

As the title says, looking for a good machinist that won't cost me an arm and a leg. I've tried asking Mike, but got no response. I recently tried Jaime (FLM) also, it hasn't been long, but I suspect he'll be unavailable due to his production requirements. E-Machineshop is super expensive. Has anyone had any luck with other online providers or otherwise?

Looking for rather simple parts out of 6061 T6 aluminum. Tranny plates and motor mount. No more than 4 sides of the part having work done. Bore spacing important to about 0.05mm. Of course true vertical would be important.

I only have access to emachineshop cad. Drawings would be of each view in .dxf format. I'd have to verbally fill in the rest of the details. Max thickness to be 10mm with a bore 8mm deep.

I have used these guys for industrial work. The parent company is called Romco Manufacturing and they have a product line for Airplanes called Tru Turn.

They have always done a fantastic job for me and have reasonable pricing as well.

I've used the services of a guy called Dave Beeby before, and he is awesome. Specialises in one-off RC parts, and the quality is just incredible. He also has good prices and is pretty quick, but the only downside is that he's here in the UK...so you'd have to ask him if he can ship internationally (though I don't see it being a problem - he's a really nice guy).

Here's his site: FullOption.co.uk

Just blast him an email (link is under "Upgrade Parts") and I'm sure he can help you. Plus, he'll accept DXF drawings just fine.

I do can do it, I specialize in making one of a kind parts. Pm me in better detail what you want, and I'll see about a price.
