Winter driving question - 06.10.2008, 11:56 PM

I am stoked about the E Revo being released for many reasons including I want to run it in the winter here in Wisconsin. For those of you who do not already know I am going to be running a Tekno Neu 1.5d, MMM, and 2 2s 8k maxamps lipos. What if any issues would I have in a couple inches of snow in the driveway? And how could I make it snow proof for the winter months. Yes I know summer is here now but would like to get an idea of what if anything I will need to do to prepare for winter. Thanks

I ran my rc just about every day last winter in the snow. Haven't had that much fun in the snow since my skiing days. At the start of winter I was wrapping the chassis in seran wrap. That was working okay but a pain to get into it and swap out batteries and then wrap it up again. I eventually started using a large clear platic bag about the size of revo body would come in. Took it and placed it over the chassis and secured it with some homemade rubber band bungees. I took all kinds of precautions and different methods to protect my MM until I found out they were already coated with a protectant. The novaks HV were a different story though. Had to install a couple of fans inside the large plastic bags to keep everything cool even at temps below freezing the Novak would thermal on me. I would guess but not sure if the MMM is also coated with the same stuff the MM was. You want to seal up any electric connections and just try and keep the snow from getting in while keeping things cool. I made snow chains but didn't need them really with the revo. They came in real handy with the rustler though

Here's a video of the rustler with snow chains. Check out the rooster tails this little guy throws with the chains on. THe dogs get a face full a couple of time.

Some people use a shower cap and put it over the chassis. Just want to make sure you keep it dry and cool inside. THe new e-revo probably has all the sealed boxes like the new e-maxx does so that should help out a bit. THe G3R chassis was a little differnt. Harder toi keep the snow out with it.

I ran my Revo 3 or 4 times this winter in the snow when I went on snowboarding trips, and always used Saran wrap around the whole chassis. Nothing ever overheated or fried or anything. It worked perfectly for me. But as Gee said though, it was a pain to take off the Saran wrap to take out the batteries...
