Help me convert a real one, 1/1 scale! - 06.24.2008, 03:30 AM

no, not a car But a moped!

Is it do-able?

Are there non-RC speed controllers that could take it?
Are there suitable motors? I guess there must be.
What about Batteries??

Fire away guys, any suggestions and ideas welcome!

Thank you

Daf

For a speed control, you probably need a Zilla z2k (2000a) or equivelent, for bateries you can probably run plain ole' 12v deep cycle batteries, or if u got deep pockets run a crap-load of A123's

Let me know what you really need. I have all the info you want about it. Keep in mind, depending on the battery you choose, that could well be your most expensive item on the moped. Are you going to be shooting for a decent speed, but with long range in mind?

Maybe look into electric scooter parts and use lead acid batteries? I used to own a brushless scooter to zip around college back in the day... maybe that would be a good place to start?

There are several available options Daf.

There is a ready to run one, it's called goped.

there are several upgrade kits, including a 750watt motor/controller

My best guess is if you get a goped and put some lipo's in it you can shave off at least 15 kg..

check youtube, these electric puppies are fast.

That's what I would do. Those gopeds are pretty slick.
