The B44 would be one of the most durable 4wd buggies out there. Protek (from Amain Hobbies) and maxamps make saddle pack lipos
Losi 8ight
MMM V1 w/1.20
Airtronics MX3 2.4Ghz
TP 5S 5000mah
Neu 2.5D/F

I had one and like it. I sold it a few weeks ago because there wasn't much of a turn out for 4wd at my local track.
Protek, maxamps, reedy and trackpower make saddle packs for it. As for durability, the only thing I broke was front arms and a front shock shaft.
Kyosho SC, tekin rs, D3 17.5
Hyper 9e, mmp,tekin 1900kv

Not sure about that, to tell you, racer here use TRF501 front A-arms and dremel them to make them fit on B44. Front A arms are the main weakness of the B44
BTW, TRF501 is also know as the Tank or "the brick",

Isn't the TRF501 discontinued? it was only going to be a limited run and was over priced.

I love my B44. I finally broke something but it was doing the huge double and I lawn darted from about 15 feet up. I am running Yuntong lipos in everything I own. They make a sweet 4800 mah 25c saddle pack that fits nice
I had to cut the battery tray slightly and just glued the part I cut off onto my nmh pack so I could still use that too. The loss of nearly 300g made a huge difference as well.
A couple small mods are needed, and you can find those in detail on rc10.com (cut the front inner hinge pin and add a grub screw to the arm to keep the pin off the chassis, cut 1/8 inch off the rods so the ball ends have some flex). Ya my wing is ghetto lol. the lexan wing doesn't survive many flips, soI cut a tupperware box and made 2 hehe. I am going to add a wing like my RC8 to the B44, as I have added a similar wing to my 18B as well... ya I like black
we raced this past weekend on a large outdoor track and were rivalling times of tq pace set by 8th scale buggies

I don't think so... maybe your talking about TRF 415,
TRF 501 is very succesful and it's design as been used in DB01 Durga design.
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=49401, it's not overpriced, considering the overall quality of the kit, but better to directly buy it from Japan
As far as i know B44 is not made in USA (unlike B4 and T4) but made in Taiwan which explain it's lower price.

I am going to bug a bud with a 501 to check out that mod though, thanks for the tip. I know one guy locally has broken a lot of arms... I am sure he'd like to check this out, so am going to post a small quote on our local forum to show him. We have quite a few 4wd mods. It's either B44 or ZX5 being run, with a couple XX4's and one XXX4 out there.
Saddle packs turns some people off. The guy I get the 4800 saddle lipos also gets 6000 mah saddle packs. I might want one for practice. A lot of the guys that got the ZX5 liked them for stick packs.
The shock shafts are what were a pain for me. tbh I am running XX4 shafts in front. I had a head on with an 8th scale and couldn't find shafts in stock anywhere. I heard the xx4's were a fit so got a couple of those. they are a tad longer so I added an o ring inside and out of the shock body. it still had the same travel but saves the inside from the clip banging on full travel. since I changed to the xx4 shafts, I haven't had a problem. the stock shafts were snapping off on the thread end, right where they started. The 18B has the shocks up front the same and I have bent shafts and added the rpm front bumper and solved that. almost tempted on the B44 to make something similar... lawn darting will break an rc though.
so after ripping my front end off, parts were under $10 to repair and I have a spare front arm left over. Sure like how cheap Associated parts are when you need them

I just started putting mine together the other day.
4 hours later
Looks like a nice buggy. It was a pretty easy build.

The B44's are very nice and durable. I have a ZX-5 which has also been very durable as well. Where i race almost everyone has the B44 and i have not seen many broken parts on any of there buggies. BTW what wheels are those?

i am constantly working on the hobby shop's owner's b44 always changing to a different brushless setup or different batteries, the car it self is tough tho it has to be with his son driving it, but he is running a vxl system, protek 3600 saddle pack and we have it geared for 37 mph and it moves.
